oh there will be interest in 3 or 4 of our players make no mistake ramsdale egan baldock bogle and berge could go i would just hope if we have to raise capital only 2 of those will be soldAgree, and I get that balancing the books as to be done. But I find it amazing that some fans seem to know all about our finances. As for selling 2or3 I will be surprised if anybody's interested in any of them after last season's shit show.
100%All this speculation about the sale of players is beginning to concern me now. 25-35 mill for Rammers; 25-35 mill for Berge; 10 mill for Bogle and that's not including talk in the past on the value of Egan and Baldock. Yes, we could bring in over 100mill in sales and let Slav spend 20% of that on decent replacements which COULD still get us promoted, but what then? We would become the typical yoyo club.
For crying out loud, let's keep these players, get us promoted in style and build on establishing ourselves in the Prem and kick on from there. I'd like to support a club continuously attaining top 10 in the Prem and even fighting to get into Europe in the odd season with some cup silverware to boot.
Just hope Slav is of the same opinion and can sit down with these players this week and convince them that their future is here at the Lane.
Rammers 20
Berge 20
We are getting less income than last year but with wage drops some of that will be accounted for. We’re not £40m in debt just have less money coming in, unless someone corrects me that’s how I understand itI thought we had a 40m shortfall? If we sold him for 35m, we'd be looking for another 5m, nevermind new signings
I'd keep him. But 30m+ is serious money. Good to see some reports referring to him as 40m player. Can't hurt.
That’s how I understand it. PA is obviously keeping his cards close to his chest. They’ll probably be some shortfall between our income and what we need to spend (wages plus transfer fees for new players) but we don’t know how much that will be. Likewise. I couldn't see Slav coming if his transfer budget is 50 pence and a wham bar. He'll have had assurances regards the squad and any new incomings. Dont think we need to sell for at least this season. So it seems we might be going all out to get back up. We've certainly got the best manager in the league to do it.That’s how I understand it. Well, if we’ve got a £20m shortfall we’ll probably have to sell someone to cover it, unless PA has a spare £20m to put into the club, which I doubt.Likewise. I'd rather it be Berge than rammers myself. All the transfer paper talk about 10m etc is wide of the mark imo. If he's got a release clause in his contract of 35m I'd rather keep him until Jan/someone is willing to pay it.Well, if we’ve got a £20m shortfall we’ll probably have to sell someone to cover it, unless PA has a spare £20m to put into the club, which I doubt.
I’d rather us sell Berge than Ramsdale too but my point is, we don’t know what the shortfall is, so we don’t know how much money we have to raise by selling players. It’s just total guesswork. We might have to sell both, we might not have to sell either and sell McBurnie instead, we don’t know. We don’t even know for sure what Berge’s release clause is, or which players other clubs are looking at, apart from crap on click bait websites. Personally I'm unsure if theres a required amount needed. It's all hearsay at the moment. If you'd keep Ramsdale and potentially keep Berge until Jan (or beyond - there generally aren't many big $ deals done in Jan (ironically Berge to Utd was one!)), how would you raise the required amount over summer Dane?
Would you really want to sell the club's biggest asset part-way through the season, especially if Utd are there or thereabouts in the league table?

As for selling Berge part way through the season, if it was left to me I wouldn't sell him at all, it's rumoured his release clause is 35m. Hence why I'd just say his price is 35m, no more no less. If they really want him, they'll pay over the odds for him thus getting us the required amount whilst he (hopefully) puts us up there in the mean time.
I'd be surprised too if I'm honest. However just because we need to sell, it doesn't mean we should sell cheaply and drop our pants like a few want. I'd we sell Berge that's the supposed 20m raised plus 15 extra to do what we'd like.Well I'd be amazed, given the outlay since gaining promotion, huge uplift in wage bill (albeit somewhat offset by reductions following relegation), shortfall in expected revenue last season due to Covid, and drop in revenue next season that the club won't need to sell some assets.
I'd be interested to see how SJ sets the team up next season. While I can see his quality, I don't think how CW set-up complimented Berge, his strengths or style of play at all. Personally I'd love to see him in a double pivot with a more creative playmaker (e.g. Swift) in a 4-2-3-1
The supposed figure of £20m is one I just made up as an example. It could be £20m or £50m or fuck all. We don’t know. And you could be right, selling Berge for £35m could cover the lot, I hope so. I’d prefer it to be fuck all and Slav gets the lot to spend on players but it’s unlikely.I'd be surprised too if I'm honest. If Berge is around when the championship kicks off he'll be the best midfielder in the league.
As long as he's not expected to play RCM of course!I'd be surprised too if I'm honest. However just because we need to sell, it doesn't mean we should sell cheaply and drop our pants like a few want. I'd we sell Berge that's the supposed 20m raised plus 15 extra to do what we'd like.

thats the best suggestion ive seen up to now on this thread lets sell mcburnie and keep rammy and bergeI’d rather us sell Berge than Ramsdale too but my point is, we don’t know what the shortfall is, so we don’t know how much money we have to raise by selling players. As you say, we’ve got the best manager we could, PA has talked about expanding our recruitment and looking more to Europe, which everyone wanted, let them get on with it and see what happens.
I think he'd be okay as a RCM. Provided we played to his strengths. He's not a midfield demolisher.. he's someone who can pull the strings and eliminate players from the game by striding past them. Folk think cause he's a unit he should be awesome in the air. Not always the case.As long as he's not expected to play RCM of course!![]()
Bloody hell a 40 million points reduction means we will probably get relegatedMy understanding is that it’s not a shortfall in terms of a blackhole in the finances that needs to be plugged ASAP but rather a 40 million point reduction in revenue from last year. Whilst that’s a serious drop we won’t need to recoup the whole figure through sales as our championship outgoings are highly unlikely to amount at 100% of our premier league income.

Only blades fans would be happy to break even on a young player who has just broken into the England squad. Years of McCabe selling off on the cheap is a tough legacy to get rid of it would seem

Very clever man McCabe it will take sometime to shift his brainwashing of the fans out of there system.
Nah just follow the Wednesday method kick up enough of a fuss get it delayed then halved by which time we’ll hopefully be back in the premBloody hell a 40 million points reduction means we will probably get relegatedUTB
i wish it was that simple, but even if players fancy staying with us (i’d imagine rammers might), the allure of big £££ and big clubs playing in the best league in the world/Europe must be too good to turn down, plus the added allure of turning out for your country. Especially with such a short-lived and fragile career which a footballer has. If they’re not committed, I don’t want them. It’s that simple. It might be possible to convince them to give us a season and see if we go up but if you force them to stay against their will, they’ll play like Lundstram.i wish it was that simple, but even if players fancy staying with us (i’d imagine rammers might), the allure of big £££ and big clubs playing in the best league in the world/Europe must be too good to turn down, plus the added allure of turning out for your country.
