But why would they want to sell him to us?Value is often determined by how much the player is worth to the selling club, rather than how much someone is willing to pay or the quality of the player.
For example, Didzy probably is worth ten million to us because he’s just scored nearly ten goals in a premier league season where his team scored about 20 all season, and more importantly we have nobody like him, he’s under contract and a long term replacement would not come much cheaper than that. If Fulham want Cairney’s wages off their books and they have an abundance of players in that position, they would probably be willing to negotiate for 5 million because if they stubbornly say ‘15 million or no deal’ it’s no deal and nobody gets what they want. They aren’t in the strongest of negotiating positions in that respect.
I think there's very little chance we're going to see any big transfers, certainly none of £10M. There's just no logic in it when you have parachute payments for wages and 5 loans available.
