Let’s be right, “in talks with” often just means “think of a way to fill column inches”.“In talks with” ≠ “signing for”

I agree we can’t judge him based on the amount of minutes he’s played for us but that means for me we can’t go into the season with him as the only potential number 1 on the books. We’d be taking a big gamble on an unknown panning out.
Woodman on a loan to buy would make a lot of sense. I’d be comfortable with Eastwood operating as the third keeper but I still can’t get my head around Foderingham and I really don’t want to see him playing for us.True I can see us trying for a deano type loan say a Freddie woodman + verrips
Deano was quite obviously a huge outlier, and a loan. So we’d still need to buy one anyway.Championship promotion quality ****
How much was deano again ?
20-25m is laughable for a young England squad keeper with plenty of time on his side, 2 years Premier league experience, tied down long term and not edging for a move. We took a slight gamble at 18.5m and after a slow start it’s looking a very good long term signing. If top clubs want our top players then we should make them pay top prices like everyone else does. It’s time we got rid of our reputation of caving in to piss poor offers
If Verrips isn't number 1 when/if Ramsdale goes, then forget about him being number 2. He won't stick around.Woodman on a loan to buy would make a lot of sense. i think if we get an offer of 25m plus yogi we will sell especially if aaron wants to go havent seen enough of verrips to judge him but just wonder if he might be good enough at championship level agree on foderingham seemed a pointless signing by wilderWoodman on a loan to buy would make a lot of sense. Verrips could well be good enough but we just don’t know and going in to the season with Foderingham and Eastwood as the options to go to if he’s not is begging for trouble.i think if we get an offer of 25m plus yogi we will sell especially if aaron wants to go havent seen enough of verrips to judge him but just wonder if he might be good enough at championship level agree on foderingham seemed a pointless signing by wilder
Exactly. Ramsdale not being settled was a contributing factor* to our poor start to the season, which then snowballed. It boggles my mind that people are advocating for changing him now that he's come into some form (and will have arguably an easier ride in the second tier) to replace him with another keeper who we'd have to bed in.You look at the teams that went up and they all had solid, experienced goalkeepers. Wouldn't want to be relying on verrips as our only 1st choice keeper for a full championship season
Verrips is a better goalkeeper than Foderingham he's absolutely shite what the fuck Wilder was thinking signing him is beyond me.I'd hope someone within the club knows whether Verrips is good enough. They might even have watched him whilst on loan... I'd imagine a view on his abilities will be taken into consideration re the position we take over Ramsdale.
I believe that Foderingham was rated by Darren Ward in the first instance from his Swindon Town days. Obviously Glasgow Rangers fans were less than positive about his performances for them. Verrips looks like a goalkeeper but we have only seen him for thirty minutes playing for the first team. It would be a big gamble to wait to see if either of them are a promotion quality keeper. Settled defence including keeper a necessity, let's learn from the lessons of last season.Verrips is a better goalkeeper than Foderingham he's absolutely shite what the fuck Wilder was thinking signing him is beyond me.
Unfortunately Foderingham isn’t even a league one promotion chasing keeper never mind a championship one.I believe that Foderingham was rated by Darren Ward in the first instance from his Swindon Town days. We might have only seen him for 30 mins, but decision makers at the club are likely to have seen more of him. The people with the experience and skill set to assess footballers capabilities are the ones likely to make a decision, and therefore less of a gamble than us fans might think (if he becomes 1st choice).I believe that Foderingham was rated by Darren Ward in the first instance from his Swindon Town days. Have to disagree on this one. If (and its a huge if) sell sell AR for big bucks (north of £35m), we can get an extremely good keeper for £15m and build our piss poor midfield as thats where the real issue is.Sell Ramsdale and there will be no promotion
The unique thing about Ramsdale is his age, very few GKs of his age have a couple of years experience in the Premier League, backed up by POTY accolades and an England call up. This moreso than his ability as a GK presently, albeit still a very good one.A good championship keeper could cost a couple of million. If we get big money he goes and rightly so.

Oh fucking hell!!Not just signed Wes but signed him on a 3 year deal as well I think.![]()
Blackman at Rotherham really impressed me last season, seems to have matured from the time he was with us.A good championship keeper could cost a couple of million. If we get big money he goes and rightly so.
He didn't make the position his own in a side that went down....Blackman at Rotherham really impressed me last season, seems to have matured from the time he was with us.
I would keep Ramsdale though unless the final offer is over £30M with good add ons too. He has min 10 years left at the top level.
Oh fucking hell!!
nearly as unbelievable as wilder playing lundstram game after gameWhat in God's hairy trousers was CWAK thinking of giving Foderingham a 3 year deal. Seriously, WTF was going off in their minds to possibly think that was a good idea (especially just after bring Ramsdale back and having Verrips, Moore and Eastwood already in situ). Total waste of money. Thanks lads. No wonder he snapped our hands off to sign in double quick time last pre season.
It wasnt as if you couldn't see the warning signs in advance of the signing either as you only had to read a few forum posts by Rangers fans who were baffled as to why we were signing him...
Unber-fuckin-lievable. Only 2 more years to pay him to go.

I'd argue this is the main driver of his value, as could be 10 years plus of being No.1 at a club.
Even If we keep him this year and he lives up to his potential, he'll move to a big club eventually and the majority of those 10 years are doubtful to be with us.
Agree with your point I'd like to think we can get an equally capable shot stopper / keeper (matching his current ability) for a fraction of the fee he could command. Even if they are a more short term (i.e couple of year proposition)
All that being said, I'd love him to stay!!
