Waking up this morning and checking social media, I couldn't help but be pleased for them. I mean winning the tournament so early is s fantastic achievement. Credit where its due

Let's be fair to our Northern cousins, they had probably had to listen to weeks of England supporters confidently predicting a 3 or 4 goal dry humping. How none of their "boys" could stand up individually to any of Southgate's "players". Hearing and reading every pundit say that they could only see one result, etc etc etc.

That was certainly what I was hearing from mates and colleagues, and in every case I told them they were wrong. England don't produce teams that can steamroller opponents in tournaments, even those deemed as beneath us. Whilst the talent might exist in the squad, our managers normally prefer to indulge the egos of the big players, even when they underperform. It must be written into the FA's job description. The current manager also looks like he will resort to negative tactics by default. Time will tell on that I suppose, so prove me wrong Mr S.

All of those predicting a comfortable English win forgot that in the right conditions, a well organised and motivated team, who care about who they play for, will match a bunch of overpaid, uninspired, albeit technically superior superstars any day of the week. Last night was actually quite reminiscent of how we rattled a few PL big boys the season before last.

So bonny Scotland, drink hearty and enjoy your 0-0, because regardless of how important the point ends up being for either nation, your team was the one that impressed.

It’s the prejudice of low expectations I think. I can’t remember such an over exaggeration of a performance in a long time.

Just like the last Tournament where England lost to Iceland we are clueless against a team that is well organised and plays with passion. No plan B or C. Southgate has done some good things like bringing in some younger players but at the end of the day he has no track record as a great football manager and it shows with our tactics. They played as a team and out worked us. Not saying they were world beaters, but they certainly looked more up for it and at least gave a shit.

I’m not sure where you’ve been the last 10-20 years but the Scotland national team has gone downhill.
There is now a large gap between the 2 traditional rivals which will probably never close.
Its been discussed over the years on Talksport how Scotland never produces any young talent or top players anymore.

So it’s natural to expect Scotland to celebrate a 0-0 draw at Wembley.

It’s like the Sheffield Derby 3 years ago. We were hot favourites and everyone expected a thrashing.
Wednesday put everyone in defence and battled for a 0-0 draw.

The England- Scotland game was different. It was a pretty even game with Scotland probably just about edging it. Think a draw was a fair result.

Scotland were organised, disciplined and actually dangerous at times when they got the ball into advanced areas. In contrast to England who were lethargic, uninspired and outside the first 10 minutes toothless.

It wasn’t a game for the football purist but that Scottish performance was planned and well thought out. They denied England the space to operate in behind. They played with energy through the middle cutting off passing lanes forcing England to try and play wide in a side with no natural wingers and when they had the ball adams and dykes were effective if not pretty. With better finishing they could’ve pinched it but they had an actual game plan.

Tactically England were a shambles and were largely relying on a moment of magic from one of the forward players or a set piece to open up the game. When it didn’t come all impetus dropped out of the side and it became a game of keep ball for large spells without any penetration. Grant Hanley must have been thanking his lucky stars as a mediocre to poor club centrehalf that’s just spent 90 minutes at an international tournament watching the whole game played in front of him. England didn’t test Scotland at all after the first 10 minutes.

The only similarity was the over the top reaction of the fans. For it to be more similar, the Scots would have had to have had players jailed for match-fixing, sacked their manager on Christmas Eve, not had a safety certificate in their stadium and had a deluded fanbase that thinks their country is MASSIVE on the international stage.

England were grim on Friday, but I doubt Southgate is half as worried as the rest of us.
