[Confirmed] Birch going

I would imagine it would be birch helping Pemberton get the players he wants in and out of the club. I don't think we will be following a Birch blueprint.

Personally I like the idea of Pemberton and Hart.

"Over the next two or three months, Mr Birch will assist the Blades with its player trading, as well as the reorganisation and re-shaping of the club.
Chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Trevor's considerable contacts and experience will help us as we re-shape the football club and focus on our transfer dealings."

Personally, I think this is a very worrying development.
It reads to me that Birch will be spending the next three months ringing round his contacts trying to offload as many players as he can (both young and old).
He'll also be responsible for "assisting" the new manager in his recruitment of new players.
Or more likely undermining him by putting the brakes on any deals the Board don't fancy (as with Vokes).
In other words he'll be doing exactly the same job he's just failed at and therefore been sacked from.
Only now he won't be accountable for any new contracts he negotiates as he won't be here to face the music.
He can make all the unpopular decisions that McCabe will ask him to make and then sail off into the sunset with chants of "sack the consultant" ringing in his ears.

that's a good shout sothall.. i believe the term for that position is 'hatchet man'

Where is the confirmation that he's been "sacked"?

I have left jobs in the past but I certainly wasn't sacked.

Fair enough, the official site says that he's "stepped down" which I read as a polite way of saying he'd been asked to resign.
It's certainly unusual to "leave" a job and then continue doing a very similar job for the next few months.

The blokes been an absolute disaster from start to finish-it seems since his time here, its been the worst ever time in our history.
Where was the investments that this bloke was given the job for in the first place?Did he put any money into the club?,if he hasnt, then i hope your cock rots you tossbag.

Someone ont radio congratulated McNumpty on his decisions over Adams and Birch....he replied with a thankyou.....

Seems he was sacked then!

Yes, I just listened to it. Certainly sounds like Birch was asked to leave rather than it being his own decision.
Sounds like one or both of McCabe's sons will be replacing him although not as the official Chief Exec.
It still seems bizarre to me that he'll be involved in "player trading, the reorganisation and reshaping" of a club that he's been asked to leave.

Absolutely no idea :D

But I'd personally rather it was a slightly more informed decision than....

"We think he gets paid far too much" + "the chief exec's only task is to bring another Abramovic" = "Get him out"

The £250K isn't guesswork. The only guesswork is for what proportion of the year it covers. Given that and next years income, he's just not worth it.

As for what he does - speculation isn't required. A quick look at the league tables and one or two other things on the end of the nose tells us enough.

Interesting that he's moving on (or has been moved on) but is still needed as a consultant.

I'll speculate here (sorry Foxy :)) that this is his 3 month notice period in play.

Good riddance to bad rubbish as regard to Birch. Wjhat an awful rain at the club. Perhaops this is unfair as it seems that he has been McCabe's puppet somewhat, but he has failed spectacularly. 4 managers, a relegation, a string of poor decisions and ultimately no investment.

This comes as no surprise, as it was obvious that we cannot afford Birch in League One. The only disappointing thing is that Birch will carry on in a 'consultancy' role. I suppose this is natural, until we find another CE, but for me the sooner he leaves the better.

I think a lot of the management and executive role staff will be feeling a bit worried this week.

Some areas of the club seem very bloated and McCabe mentioned it last night, there's hardly any Sheffield people involved any more. A lot of staff came from Leeds. A few, I'd guess, have come straight out of University. Just like our loan players, they have little affinity with our club or with the fans.

I wonder if this is the "exciting" part of the journey that Birch referred to when we were Relegated.

Out the Door on his Arse

I wonder if he bounced

Hmmm. Don't really buy that to be honest. Smacks of the old ''At least Mickey is a Blade!'' argument. He is, but it didn't do us much good. As long as we have the right number of people with the right skills our back office will be fine.
