Don't think I'd bother supporting another team. I'd still watch major tournaments and keep an eye on results but that's it.

Topical.
Found this newspaper article a few weeks back and almost posted it.
The proposed colours might need changing. Green and white stripes anyone?
Without football I would just be a adulterous alcoholic. So my answer is foreign leagues.
I have always kept tabs on Real Betis and Werder Bremen (and to a tiny degree a couple other german sides) due to friendships etc. If english football reaches the very likely event of a complete implosion I feel it would be a rather easy transition to make for me.Hmm that’s an interesting one and I might change my allegiance from fuck football to following a German team or something like that.
There’s no way I could feel a proper affiliation with another English team in the same way I did with the Blades. Add to that I think English football is fucked from top to bottom then I just don’t think it would grab me in the same way.
I’ve always had half an interest in German football and I really quite like the 50+1 model. Plus if there was a few of us that supported the same team, a trip to Germany 2 or 3 times a year to see a game would be quality and probably less expensive than buying a season ticket and travelling to away games in England.

I did want to clarify this, that when I wrote larger local team, I mean larger than none league. It was a poor choice of words.Surely the third option is null and void. Who are the bigger local clubs?![]()
Tough choice. I'd probably follow a phoenix club for a while but you pretty much need to do an AFC Wimbledon and march straight up into league football or I can see that losing interest quickly. I can also see myself getting sucked into a team like Chesterfield. Close by and of all the local teams they're the only ones I wouldn't feel like I was selling my soul for going to watch.
Bit out of the way compared to Chesterfield.Lincoln? Red and white stripes too.
The way South Barnsley is going Sheffield is going to end up a one club city anyway. It'd take a while for the stain to come out but with no competition United would be well placed to hoover all the support across the city within 10 years.Hi Stegasaurus here
Ive long being an advocate of a merger.
More finances. A bigger pool of players. A bigger stadium. Plus more fans
A merger would make sense
I'd support Harrogate Town and voted for the lower league local club option as they're only a 30 minute bus ride from where I live in Leeds. I had a season ticket for their first ever season in the National League and I would have had one this last season in League Two as well but for CovidVoted lower league because I’d probably go and watch Stocksbridge (nearest non league club to me) more often.
Wouldn’t be averse to the phoenix club thing depending who/where etc.
Big no to the other options.
Not a nice topic to think about, but if we were to go bust I'm sure some type of 2nd 'FC Sheffield United' would be born. Like FC United, AFC Bury, AFC Wimbledon etc
Yes, agreed. Wednesday are staring at this in the face at the moment. I could see their owner like Burys pulling all funding & not selling for less than he wants. It's more of a curiosity question. It happens sadly although not too often thankfully.
There's a big split between 'done with football' and a phoenix club with little in-between, so appreciate those who have answered.
I voted for a phoenix club, as long as the spirit of sufc haunts the fuck out of it. I'd still need something to support and I don't think I could ever get behind an existing team anywhere in the pyramid.
