Finally after 46 bloody awful games, I include the wins in that too this poor season comes to an end.

What a horrible horrible joke of a season.

Finished 23rd below in this league is an absolute embarassment to this club and this the city. Thank good Scunthorpe were technically "worse" than us.

I doubt even the doom-mongers would have though we would have finished there but if you buy shit and back it up with shit management, you get shit in return.

Lets hope that the youth isnt sold off and we give it a good go next season with them plus some good old head signings....Im not getting involved in the managerial debate

How ironic scouse. I too have just posted a thread saying exactly the same thinng!!

I gather we finished as we started with a man sent off, says it all really.

Yep, worked out well didn't it. Well done to everyone who hounded him out.

When was Blackwell hounded out?

After seeing the shambles assembled by Blackwell up at Hartlepool, I was convinced we could get relegated this season. Though we've royally fucked up since his departure, the rot started to set in whilst he was here.

All academic to me - the problems start much higher up and began after relegation from the premier league.

The rot started the day after we got promoted to the prem. We didn't just fail to stay up but the board and manager wasted the chance that season to invest the millions in the right way in the right players to ensure we'd either stay up or have the players and foundations to bounce back and at least do a West Brom.

Warnock was sadly a little out of his depth that season on and off the pitch and the rot he had set in motion just gathered pace with a series of bad decisions and bad luck in the years since.

I'd agree with that. Our whole attitude was wrong at key parts in that season. We started off with Warnock grinning like a buffoon as he was wined and dined by the 'big clubs' who happily took their three points as payment. "It's just great to be here" trilled our Neil as the points slipped away. Then we strated to realise we could actually hold our own and, as you say, instead of pushing forward and consolidating we boosted our squad with paperweights rather than heavweights. Then there was the calamitous policy of 'one up front' for the last ten away games of the season that gained us, if I remember rightly, no points whatsoever.

So I agree the downturn strated, ironically, in our Premiership return. I think it's all about timing with United. Our managerial timing is absolutely crap. We don't push on when we need to, we sack managers at bizarre times, we throw money at a situation when its too late, we bail out when it's too early and we sell players at the precisely wrong moments.

I think this is down to McCabe's on/off involvement with the club and, i believe his arrogance as a self-made millionaire. This leads to badly informed interventionism at crucial moments based on the notion that "I've made millions, I know better than anyone".
I hope the club learns from this. Mr McCabe, your interventions have been misinformed and mistimed and have brought the club to its knees. That is no longer opinion, it is fact. Whatever rebuilding programme this club has for the future, by all means facilitate it but please do not be actively involved in it.

And to end all things another ex Blade scores against us Britton ex Blades score when the go OK except Kenny.
