Disappointing that when everyone was fit at the start of the season Rodwell was "available", yet when we actually needed him to provide some defensive & midfield cover he was injured. Anyone know what his injury was, and how he got it?

To be honest I'm a bit sad that Jags is released. Because when we sold him back in 07 he said he would be back to finish his career at the Lane. Just bad timing I guess to retire at such a time, in such a dismal season :(.

Hopefully he'll stay connected to the club in one way or another.
Hopefully the Prince has plans in place to invite him back as guest of honour for a game next season, on tge pitch at half time,, covid permitting a decent size crowd to show their appreciation

consumate profesional are they having a laugh was clear from that opening challenge after 2 minutes against wolves that he was not going to put any effort in and he didnt every game he played absolute rubbish good riddance to the bloke just hope he comes back as a player for an opposing team in front of a packed lane 🤨🤨

The man was a complete and utter wage thief last season (as was Rodwell). I couldn't care less where these money grabbing charlatans go now, as long as it it a long long way from the Lane. Complete opposites to Jags and Moore (the latter had way too long on his contract mind) who both got their heads down and were available when needed. They both have my respect. Good ol Lunny and Rodwell have both finally fucked off and I am so pleased that they have. I will be having a celebratory glass or something to toast them both fucking off into the sunset.

On a serious note, I wonder how much Rodwell has taken out of the club for how many minutes in the pitch for Utd? He's probably taken at least half a million quid out of our club and contributed just short of fuck all. Wilder masterstroke that one....again 🙄

Increase in money in the PL, previous projects, loaned out or moved on when it didn't work, Ricky Holmes, whereas PL money offers more money and time and potential bigger projects, Morrison, Rodwell, Verips?

The Sunderland fans did warn us about Rodwell. Like the comment concerned about the future of our medical staff now he has gone.

Can't argue with any of that. Jags is knocking on, Lundstram wants out, Simon Moore was great when we needed him (that save against W*dnesday when he sprung off his haunches and tipped one over the bar) but CW hasn't trusted him since we got promotion to the Championship. I've had as much playing time as Rodwell and I'm about the same as he is - I'm not match fit either.

Bryan is a surprise.

Interested to see who we retain, but are looking to sell. I think this is a longer list......

With Robinson, Enda, and RND on the books the fact we are offering Bryan a new deal adds a little more weight to those rumours around JOC's faltering recovery.

Does it also suggest we’re staying with 3 at the back and could need his covering versatility?

No shockers, and Bryan won't be offered any great shakes, and presumably will be appearance enhanced. I can see the value in having him around on buggar all money, particularly if the JOC situation is still unclear.

Still a good amount of squad work to do for SJ - for starters we've got 4 GKs still on our books, 5 LBs if Bryan signs, and only 3 recognised CMs (is Freeman around?).

I fancy it'll be a busy summer, but hopefully amongst the mess that is our squad at the minute, some cohesive plans can be lain. Be intriguing to see what formation SJ fancies, and how many of our current lot fit in it, and how many need bringing in.

Think we might looking at a new way of operating, the decision to buy Coulibaly and Berge, I think were made, with the idea of making money as much as progressing the team, reduced terms contract offer to Bryan, he has had PL exposure okay not all good, but his name is out there, let him walk now for nothing or get a few quid in January or use him as a player exchange deal?

As long as Bryan is being offered low end Championship wages it’s not the worst squad filler choice to have. If it’s any more than that he needs binning.

I keep seeing Bryan being offered reduced terms or appearance related deals. 😂. How much do people think he was on, and don’t you think a player who is happy to provide suitable cover has a fair price?
I think it would be fair to say he’s done what’s been needed when he’s come in, so compatible terms would seem to be appropriate.

We'll only get money for him in January if he's playing regular team football for us. Not the kind of season we want to be having be honest

From an admittedly very low bar to clear, I do think Bryan has kept getting better. Good enough? No idea, but he has been improving.
I think at Championship level if our backup/squad players for the left are Bryan, Osborn, Robinson and Fleck it’s a decent base from which to built on and Fleck aside all on sensible lower end wages.

We need competition for places, not backup. Our backup just relegated us.
You paying the fees and first team wages for players to sit on the bench? With a limited budget you need some clear backup and then completion for certain places where you can get the players. Our current first team at Championship level would be incredible backup.

100% this. We have a couple of back ups already in place (Robinson and RND). Getting a third back up is senseless. And those 8k a week wages could be the difference between getting a top target through the door or seeing him go elsewhere.

You have a Rolls Royce, a Fiesta, a Seat Ibiza... do you also need a Punto?
Depends if you end up selling the Fiesta and find out the Ibiza didn't live up to your expectations then again you could trade in the pinto after selling tye Fiesta and end up with 2 Rollers

Rodwell probably took more out of the club than John Eberell

I will join you in a fuck off glass of something now Lundstram has departed the club 🍾

I am not so sure that it would.

Anyway, we have backup in that position, Robinson.

The budget would be less limited if we didn't pay £3-4k a week duplicating our backup players.

How many instances of Puntos being traded in for a Rolls?? 🤣

Although to be fair I can personally verify the observation regarding the Ibiza is a valid one. Still love mine though
