Probably... he's a proper lad, Id love him to do well for us but he's just nowhere near... He needs a fucking massive kick up the arse.. Needs to know last season was not fucking acceptable, too many taking a wage and putting no effort in... Let's be honest if it wasn't for the money he'd still be at Swansea the club he loves

still think something happened behind the scenes, too many players looked like they threw the towel in, after the first few games, seemed resigned to losing and resigned to being bottom of the table, no fight or pride seemingly in trying to get off the bottom let alone try and escape relegation

When Wilder is telling the media that the players aren’t good enough every week in interviews, that can’t be good for all the lads confidence, I’d think fuck him too if that’s what he think about us all. 🤷‍♂️

Its odd isn't it, how often the phrase ' the manager has lost the dressing room' is used, and yet not sure its been used regards last season!
I think it was a number of things, you often hear ex players say they hated or didn't get on with a certain manager BUT then say, but you knew where you stood with him, he didn't say one thing and do another etc
Don't think CW lost the dressing room, I do think he tried various things to get a reaction, one telling or implying the players weren't good enough, I think a huge part was the lack of motivation, the first season back in the PL with every pundit and his dog criticising us and installing us as favourite fir relegation before a ball was kicked,, great pin the comments on the dressing room wall, problem is if you rely on that, and you don't get it in season 2, where do you find the fuel to ignite the attitude

I dunno there were enough comments in the press about second season syndrome over last summer to pin up. I think you’re right something just seemed to sour around the place certain players not putting in 100% then the disciplinary and off field issues started culminating in didzy asking for a strong character as the new manager. It all hints at a group of players who weren’t listening to the manager anymore something must have happened and it doesn’t have to be something massive but they’d lost a degree of respect for him imo.

I can’t say I agree. He runs around a pot and puts in plenty of effort, he’s just genuinely not that good.

Off the field I have questions, on the field he’s a trier.

Definitely I’ll be very interested to know what happened there when people start talking candidly about it in a few years time.
 
There sometimes seems to be a feeling among our fans that every player who ever plays for us immediately needs to forget anything from their "former" life and become a paid-up, dyed in the wool Blades fan for the rest of their life. Yes, we have had some players who have gone to games as fans after leaving us, and good for them, but it's not in any way compulsory.

Football is a job to these people. It's what they do to earn a (admittedly ridiculous) living. And they are human beings, whatever their flaws. In no way do I condone McBurnie's drink driving...anyone who does that is an idiot whatever the circumstances, but he's been (rightfully) punished for that, and hopefully learned a lesson into the bargain.

He clearly has a huge affinity for Swansea City after his time there, so I really don't see the problem with him going to support them at Wembley. It in no way conflicts with his interests as a Blades player, our season is long over, presumably our players are now on their summer break before pre-season starts. From what seemed to be shown on TV, he was just sat in a stadium with presumably a couple of mates, supporting a team that he is very fond of.

I really don't get why this is such an issue.

What about him for the likes of McBurnie and Brewster?? Any job you have to work for a living in most of the team would have been sacked ages ago.

I won’t compare football to other professions because they aren’t really comparable. If wilder had lost respect for members of the squad then he should’ve taken actions to remove those individuals from the squad and probably undergone a period of introspection as to what went wrong that led him to sign characters he didn’t want around the place. Given that neither of those things happened it’s reasonable to assume he was at least comfortable with the attitude and output of the squad.

Going to see Swansea doesn't bother me one bit. So putting that aside and looking at his ability and performances. He is awkward and doesn't have a good touch. His finishing has been poor. He fouls slot and often unnecessarily.
Yes he has scored in the championship and yes our service to strikers has not been good. But if we are depending on McBurnie to bang in the goals to get us promoted then we can forget about going up.
Billy can't cover ground but give him a sniff and it's back of the net. Didsy drops deep and gets on the ball, keeps possession and tries to move us up the field but obviously isn't a finisher but has value. Other strikers that contribute to teams are target men. Ones that can forage on balls that are lumped forward. Win headers etc which creates opportunities for players working off him.
I am completely unsure what category you would even try to put McBurnie in. All I know is we spent slot of money for someone who is not up to it in my opinion.
 
i just dont see mcburnie being a jokanovic type of striker and think he will move him on if any kind of decent offer comes in might even still be swansea even though they havent gone up but i cant see him going to a premier league club

They would have lost respect for him/listened less when he refused to change his formation bad tactics.

Wilder’s biggest weakness was he was too stubborn to change. He never made subs on time even when the game was crying out for it, he continued to play Berge on the right of a midfield three, he persisted with Burke and Robinson out of position too. There are countless examples.

But the main one is we were getting beat every week and still he wouldn’t change from 3-5-2. Players will lose faith.

Yeah messages get stale happens at every club it’s unusual to see a manger in situ for more than 4 years now.

McBurnie played 58 games for Swansea.

Maguire and Walker, born in Sheffield, lifelong Unitedites, started in our academy and graduated to the first team.

McBurnie can go and watch whoever he bleeding likes whether he's played 58 games or never played for them at all, why does anybody give a shite?

True Bert but mcburnie did come through Swansea’s academy they picked him up following his release from Leeds. A better example than Maguire and walker would be rammers who came to watch us against Oxford was it in league one after he’d been sold to Bournemouth. He came through our set up after being released by stoke but has an affinity for us because of time spent here and because we gave him the chance to be a pro.
 
I really don't get this at all......just the same as the "once a Blade, always a Blade" and "he's one of our own" bollocks......some Unitedites really do think that playing for our Club should be seen as a privilege when in fact for the vast majority it is just a job.........they didn't give a flying fuck about Sheffield United before they signed and will probably feel exactly the same after they left, we just helped pay their mortgage for 3 years.

But there are some players who really do have an affection for a certain team they may have played for, such as McBurnie and Swansea......I doubt he wanted to leave them at all and come to us but at the end of the day money and his career, (possibly in that order) meant that he made the move......it doesn't mean he has to stop having that affection for Swansea FFS.....

And don't get me started on the, "he's one of our own" shite.....
