Our club is in freefall, its rudderless, the caretaker manager doesn't have a clue, the players have given up and the support base is as despondent now as it was in the darkest days of Atkins and Weir.

All this has happened under your watch. What's the plan? Where are we on the new manager appointment?

We.need some answers quickly from someone who wields some influence...do not keep on putting the out of his depth caretaker in front of the press.

Hecky doesn't want the job, the players clearly don't want to be at the club, niether did wilder..

Only people who want to be at the club are us lot. And some say they can't bear to watch anymore.

New guy in, let him oversee the final games, a watching brief of you like..

Let hecky call wilder for the team sheet for the rest of the season and we take our medicine and go down with dignity..

Bettis probably waiting for wilders next move just like Alan Knill.. Who mysteriously gets no stick but was assistant manager and still at the club unless I'm mistaken..

Good old knilly.. Class if you're picking up a wage still and watching PH tank..

He only pisses everyone off when he speaks anyway so he can stay in his office under his desk crying for me.

The issue as of now isn’t so much why we haven’t yet appointed a new manager but why the stand ins are playing the same system , being let down by the same players, both of which have been an issue for months. A lot of managers won’t want to come in to a relegated club with a bunch of players who accepted it a while ago.

He brought Tindall in... then disappeared laughing

100% mate. Bettis is a spineless patsy we know that, so PA needs to get himself front and centre and tell us what's happening. Right now we are 100% fucked, so someone please drop us a crumb of optimism. I really can't take 7 more groundhog days.

He needs to come out and tell everyone his plan.

Are we getting a new manager now or waiting until the end of the season?

Are we looking abroad? Isit true Blessin won’t get a work permit and was our #1 choice.

Are we looking to buy players next season seen as though we earnt substantially ?

Do we have a rough date for the new training ground? How much will it cost? What’s currently happening?

Seen as though it’s a hugely critical time for Sufc will our owner be coming back to UK (Covid permitting) to spend substantial amount of time fixing us.

Heckinbottom, in my view in merely here to fill the void and continue as we have been doing with the same bunch of players and the occasional run out for the youth.

He’ll know he has zero chance of being the next manager, although that’s not to say he isn’t trying his best in the circumstances.

it’s the players I take issue with. Lundstram is often singled out but Mousset, Fleck and others ought to wince when they check they’ve been paid. They all know that we are down so we don’t get the type of performance we saw v Newcastle and Villa.

Agree with the OP.. Unlike the other lot we have at least had someone at the club that communicates with the fans, be that a manager with a connection or at times, McCabe and before that Brierley.

Now, when fans want really want to know what’s happening, there’s nothing. No dialogue from Bettis or the shadowy Van Winckle and the occasional interview bit from the Prince in national media.

Regardless of who we appoint as manager there’s work to do on communications between the club and supporters.

The silence from the kit man is deafening too.

I’d actually be more interested in his thoughts than some spivey suit in the prince’s sycophantic entourage.

I know the Pig kitwoman.

I could ask her for a statement if it helps.

The possibility that the system suits these players the best and we don't have other players to start rears it's head once again.

But nah. Wilder lost the plot and Hecky is his lap dog.

I don’t get this that players can only play in one system
They have played the game for years using a number of different formations a d subsequently have more than an inkling of the way things work. But more importantly when we have changed formations during a match we have actually improved.

Well l didn’t mention anything you said in your last paragraph, but if it’s needed to boost your argument, crack on.

We really can’t make one change to get Lundstram out of the side. Not one? If so, we’re in bigger trouble than l thought.

The last sentence is for the rest of the thread, apologies.

We are in that much trouble imo, we can't change formation and don't have any other CMs. Playing Osborn as a 10 last night was embarrassing for him and us.

Bettis is a cog in the machine at United not the ultimate decision maker. He isn’t a DOF with oversight for all things football nor is he the owner underwriting everything I always interpreted his job at united to be negotiator in chief responsible for sorting out contracts and transfer fees. As such he isn’t going to be the one with the over arching vision for the club or the final say on the manager. He’s the one who when a candidate is selected will be dealing with the nuts and bolts of what the person will be paid and the compo with their existing club.

Whatever system we use, the poor showing, season wide, by JL and Norwood, and Flecks repeated no shows, prohibits pretty much any system from being successful. If a qualified coach like PH can’t come up with just one or two alternatives, then he shouldn’t have accepted the job. I said yesterday, as of now, what exactly or he and Tindall bringing the the table? I think whoever we get as manager needs to come in at the end of the season and try to do something with a set of completely demotivated players who could not even make much new manager bounce.

l’d like to think we can keep Berge and Egan, that O’Connell comes through that Brewster and McBurnie will score for fun next season, that Didzy will add a few, that Basham has a good season and Bogle shows what CW saw in him. That Furious George comes good again (and we can ease some youngsters in) but I’m worrying that all the above mentioned are poisoned by the malaise the playing side of the club is in.

Isn't Betis the mordern day equivlent of Terry Robinson? Might want to be careful what we wish for when calling him out as a snake. He was Wilders man. It's the Prince and Wilder who could not ultimately work together. As for Tindall, asked him to come in and give a fresh pair of eyes in the hope that HB could instill some pride but that's not going to happen so he'll be off after helping out for a bit. We can only pray the Belgian season concludes sharpish and Blessin wants a bash at it. If he's not an option get someone in and get them in before the end of this month!

Didn't Bettis ask Tindall to come in?
I'd like him to explain how much Tindall is being paid, and what he's doing to earn it, as from my PoV he's adding no value whatsoever.

Wilder will stay a million miles away from Bettis.

Bumping this.

Where are you fella?? All you've done is come out and ruffle feathers by saying Hecky is on the shortlist. Surely we are way beyond a 5 man shortlist now.

I thought you were brought in to help connect the club with the fans better.

Surely an update wouldn't go amiss??

What's everyone's thoughts on Bettis staying on as CEO? I reckon he's foundering in the role tbh

I'd have thought we have a media department to connect with fans ,I'd think Betti's is rather busy what with ,the new randox deal and detail negotiations with the manager candidates , hang fire blades good news on its way

Bettis is there to negotiate contracts both footballing and commercial he isn’t the head of the football club and doesn’t make final decisions he also isn’t the clubs fan engagement officer. He’s done the updates so far because he’s the most senior board member in the country and so is available to do interviews. To my knowledge the only contract he hasn’t gotten over the line recently in the Lundstram one so for me he’s not done anything to vaguely approach meriting dismissal

What sort of update would you like, we talked to several people about becoming the next manager, discussions are still ongoing,, you, me and thousands of others want an appointment to be made, but its in the best interests of the club that for the moment silence rules, what possible benefit is there in publicising either the main target, what the negotiations are and which elements are raising issues, because whatever those issues are, we can do nothing about them, we can't affect the wages, promotion bonus, transfer budget or any red tape like work permits
