Manager Suggestion Dean Smith / JT

Not unless the Prince has found a mystery investor with very deep pockets.

They've spent an absolute fortune on both fees and wages since coming up and still don't look that good unless Grealish is pulling the strings.

They still need 7 points from the last 4 games to beat our total last season so not for me.

The only ginger even less appealing than Neil Lennon.

That said, while he’s not even top 5 on my personal preference list, there is a case for Terry on his own though:
  • Serial winner; we desperately need that kind of attitude back in the club
  • Done his apprenticeship the right way at a big club, rather than jump in with no clue ie Rooney.
  • Plenty of top quality contacts within the game, not least Chelsea who are the Enterprise Rent-A-Car of youth prospects.

Is he my first choice? No, not remotely. Is he a bellend? Yes, absolutely. But if we don't end up with Jokanovic, Clement etc and the shortlist keeps dwindling, I’d sooner have a punt on Full Kit Johnny than the likes of Karl Robinson or Jason Tindall.

Smith's spent a lot but also done well this season and he took Villa up also. It's not as if Nuno Esperito has done it on a budget at Wolves!? I'd take Smith over most options mentioned, although I'd prefer Jokanovic I just think he'll be a great fit for us.

If he came he can leave JT where he is though! Can't believe Villa would sack him though after this season.

Smith wouldn’t be a top choice for me because I think he’s an inferior manager when compared with wilder. But he turned that villa side around after Bruce and probably is a very good championship manager he’s just not a particularly good prem manager. I’d be fairly confident he’d have us challenging within two seasons.

He has also spent lots of money and personally doubt that he is suited to the role at BDTBL of working to a budget and bringing young players through.

No thanks.

How about a Frank Lampard / John Terry combo? Sheff Utd - the Chelsea of the North.

He has at prem level and I don’t think I’d want him to take us into the prem for sure. It’s also hard to separate his managerial performance from grealish and Brentford’s excellent scouting system. That’s why he wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list but I’d certainly prefer him to a hecky, Robinson or Lennon type.

People forget the job that Smith did with both Walsall and Brentford before he took the Villa job. He managed both sides on a shoestring compared to other clubs in their division and consistently produced good footballing sides.
I've disliked him since the "no goal" fiasco but there is no disputing his qualities as a manager.
