Quick question. When we decided Robbo and a boatload of cash would get us out of the league, where was Jones? Was he at Cardiff fighting fires?

I always thought he was a decent manager. It's odd if we didn't consider him at the time. He's had to put up with some shit at Cardiff before building this team.

I know they were technically insolvent last season and effectively cheated their way to the play off final (I loved Blackpool beating them) but before that I though he'd wheeled and dealer a bit to raise money that kept going down a black hole.

The not done on the cheap bit is my initial point. We had a decent team to start with and a tidy budget to improve it at the time. I don't think he'd have spunked it on Hendrie et al. I've always begrudgingly respected his teams, mainly cos I don't like wolves or Cardiff as clubs.

I think the key is that he's been at Cardiff for 6 years and is still only just on the verge of promotion (something which he has blown on a few occasions) perhaps due to spunking big money on the likes of Bellamy and getting few injuries to key players.

Yes Mcarthy did a terrible job last season didn't he. And if he hadn't lost his striker (ala Rob Hulse) Wolves would be staying up this season as well.

Jones was at Cardiff, he was appointed on 25th May 2005. We appointed Robson on 22nd May 2007.

I do actually remember some of our fans mentioning and wanting Jones around that time but I can't remember if it was before we appointed Robson or before we appointed Blackwell.

Further to Boo's rant about dwelling on the past. I'm not trying to say 'why didn't we do this' I was just wondering what the thought process is when we appoint. At the Robson stage I get the impression we asked him and didn't really interview or approach anyone else. At the time I think Cardiff were selling acbig player or two a year and it was a bumbling arse of a club. Then they took the Ridsdale spend loads of dosh approach.

Bellemy aside, I would like to know what some of their players are on wage wise and compare it to ours.
