Can the scouting/recruitment ones join them as well? Prestridge been unsung hero throughout the entire rise through the leagues. The recruitment lot have been nothing short of meh since the signings of summer 2018.
You mean Wilder's pal aka piggy Paul Mitchell? 😂

Surely this all points to the new Manager having his own staff that he's bringing in. Could be a good thing, could be a bad thing. Could mean a non-English speaking management team, could mean just what it says on the tin - 'New man wants his own around him'.

It’s a sign things are done or very close to being done. Be interesting to see who gets the job. In all honesty we all knew this was going to happen as both the Prince and new manager won’t want any links to Wilder lingering around the club. I’m surprised about Darren Ward though, excellent coach and most players who have worked with him have improved.

Or it could just be that Wilder is about to be unveiled as the new WBA manager for next season and wants his ducks in order. Hopefully not though.

I'm beginning to question whether Knilly and Wilder had a falling out of some kind as well as the board issues, would this be a possibility without some sort of media talk?

Has he even got a role at the minute? Id imagine its payoff related more than owt, though deffo possible.

I don’t think there was a falling out, Knilly will follow Wilder once he reveals where he is going. He’s already turned down the job he was offered hasn’t he, he’s just waiting for his pay off I would imagine.

Sports Scientist I think
I understood him being on the staff but not specifically on the bench on a matchday he was always involved in conversations with Wilder and Knill on what looked like tactics and substitutions
The fitness of the squad this season left something to be desired
Somebody had to be held to account for some of the substitutions.

Prestridge, to my understanding was an Assistant Manager/ Senior Coach along with Knilly. I think at least up until we were in the Championship there was often a lot of data used during games linked to the the GPS Vests and HR monitors worn under the shirts, the sensors are seemingly less bulky now so they don't quite look like they're holding a Fag packet between their shoulder Blades.

Again, i understood the role of Prestridge on matchdays to be monitoring the data and condition of players - red line sprints, HR zones, distance covered etc in order to avoid burning players out.

I don't think it was easy to do much this season though....

I've been chirping all season that we needed a review Of our sports science/strength and conditioning - guess this negates that and the new boss will bring his own team in...
You have indeed and i've also questioned the "other factors" when you "chirp on"

I don't think there is a simple answer to the Sports science/ S & C side of things when these factors are also considered....
Squad Size - We didn't have the depth to cover all of the key injuries.
Like for like replacements - Again we had players able to come in a play a role, but we didn't have another bash, we didn't always have another Enda or Baldock...
Developing players - the option has often been to keep an experienced head in/ on, rather than bring in a developing player into the side or from the bench. I guess this season they will have seen the data and seen the chasing we've had to do but the value in keeping the experienced player on has perhaps outweighed the fresh youngster.
Lack of Form - Can't be measured on a GPS vest, Ollies Ping, Endas sideways passes, Fleck giving the ball away, McBurnie/ McG/ Mousse/ Burke/ Brewster misses

Agree though, our approach needs to be looked at (that would be the same if we were 9th or 20th in the league) to see if there is more we can do to keep the players in top shape to give them chance to get to their peak form.

Darren Ward been working with the first team as a GK Coach since 2012 and Mike Allen has been here since 2004. Seems really odd these two long term staff members who have outlasted countless managers are also leaving.
Yeah I've wondered that.

Whether they've been part of this internal ill feeling one or two have mentioned who knows. Or it's just about clearing the decks.

I do think Wardy could be a real loss. No disrespect to Dukey but can't see him being the long term first team replacement.

Absolutely and I'm always conscious that from the outside, you're just stabbing in the dark when it comes to this kind of thing. Who knows what Norwoods VO2 max levels were compared to last season or whether Enda was still doing as many hard runs?

However, to the naked eye we've just looked slower, less strong as games went on and there's no doubt we've picked up more injuries.

The reasons behind this could be multiple but if I were to pinpoint the main reason we've shit the bed this year, it's that we've been second best physically in pretty much every game. This isn't revisionist either, if you look at our first season in the Championship we had similar struggles post Christmas, where some games we were just not at the races.

Cooouuuuttttttssss!

Gutted about Ward. It alsways sounded like he had a good reputation, Deano championed him a lot and Rammers said when he signed that Wardy was a contributing factor.

A real shame we couldn’t thank them all for their hard work over the years but shit happens, especially at lane

Completely agree. We’ve just not been the same. The only things that have changed visibly are that we’ve had more injuries, we’ve lost experienced Wilder League 1 players like Clarke and Kieran Freeman, no fans... other than that we can only speculate
