Prestridge, to my understanding was an Assistant Manager/ Senior Coach along with Knilly. I think at least up until we were in the Championship there was often a lot of data used during games linked to the the GPS Vests and HR monitors worn under the shirts, the sensors are seemingly less bulky now so they don't quite look like they're holding a Fag packet between their shoulder Blades.
Again, i understood the role of Prestridge on matchdays to be monitoring the data and condition of players - red line sprints, HR zones, distance covered etc in order to avoid burning players out.
I don't think it was easy to do much this season though....
I've been chirping all season that we needed a review Of our sports science/strength and conditioning - guess this negates that and the new boss will bring his own team in...
You have indeed and i've also questioned the "other factors" when you "chirp on"
I don't think there is a simple answer to the Sports science/ S & C side of things when these factors are also considered....
Squad Size - We didn't have the depth to cover all of the key injuries.
Like for like replacements - Again we had players able to come in a play a role, but we didn't have another bash, we didn't always have another Enda or Baldock...
Developing players - the option has often been to keep an experienced head in/ on, rather than bring in a developing player into the side or from the bench. I guess this season they will have seen the data and seen the chasing we've had to do but the value in keeping the experienced player on has perhaps outweighed the fresh youngster.
Lack of Form - Can't be measured on a GPS vest, Ollies Ping, Endas sideways passes, Fleck giving the ball away, McBurnie/ McG/ Mousse/ Burke/ Brewster misses
Agree though, our approach needs to be looked at (that would be the same if we were 9th or 20th in the league) to see if there is more we can do to keep the players in top shape to give them chance to get to their peak form.
