Would have sacked Wilder after the losses we've suffered this season, the fact he has walked suggests the board arent the villains.

If this was any other manager we'd all have been calling for his head. Instead people are looking past this seasons failed signings and some how come to the conclusion the board is at fault.

It boggles my mind.

I think that is a very fair point.

Another fair, but intriguing, point is - why is Knilly still here?

How do you know he's walked?

I think most people are aware of the fact he's had a shit season, the thing is he has credit in the bank from the previous achievements of 2 promotions and 2 LMA awards (winner and runner-up) in the previous 4 seasons. Oh and he's a fan, that goes a long way as well.

I honestly thought knill would have gone with him, makes you wonder, hasn't knill been assistant to wilder at quite a few teams and I could be wrong but wasn't wilder number 2 to knill at Northampton at the beginning.

Any other manager, for any other club, wouldn't have made it past Christmas, so the board have to be given some credit for that. Agree it's very strange with Knill, usually when a manager goes, his entire backroom staff follow suit.

The way it's all been handled and the timing has been incredibly poor.

But he isn't any other manager. That's the whole point.

Sounds like he's walked but "i know someone close to wilder" people seem to know different

Knill may well go when CW gets his next job.

It didn’t get Micky Adams very far. In fact, he’s another that left at a funny time. We were already shit and likely to be relegated when he joined. I actually thought he’d have made a half decent fist of taking us back up, but it wasn’t to be.

Well he has tried to leave three times this season after Southampton 3-0 loss and the Everton defeat .So that makes him walking sound probable. He was on borrowed time anyway criticising the owners in the public media instead of face to face.Even if fair or not.

I'm a fan, but I'd be shit at managing the Blades so wouldn't expect any support from the fans, similar to Adams. Wilder was fucking brilliant for 4 seasons so he gets some leeway.

So him being a fan doesn’t go a long way really, him winning two promotions and taking us to 9th in the PL does, however. It’s unfortunate that he leaves us just one step above where he found us, rather than two.

I remember when HRH went on TalkSport prior to the Palace game and sang CW's praises and said he would be manager here next season even if we go down.

Then after the game, the press asked Wilder about the support from the Prince and Wilder basically said he didn't care and that was up the Prince!

Some way to keep your boss on side eh?! 🤯

Anyone who wasn't Chris Wilder wouldn't have made it past Christmas this season in my opinion. The fandom got him the extra time.

And what about the inconvenient truth of the owner who has repeatedly broken his promises:

1. Personal investment in to the club.
2. New signings in the JTF.
3. Investment in to new infrastructure.

All promises made in public and all promises not delivered. Perhaps many more promises made in private that have also been broken.

As for recruitment, it was the Prince who enforced the low wage cap. (Source: Forbes)

I’m not angry because the board sacked Wilder, but the way they went about it. A three line tribute to our arguably greatest ever manager will not be forgotten by most blades in a long time. The fact the Knill and other staff are still here proves the fact the whole thing is a mess - that’s what the board need to be held accountable for.

This "if this was any other manager" argument is redundant.

He wasn't any other manager, he was the one that has built this team over the course of 5 years with 2 promotions and a top half PL finish with us.

You can't just eradicate the history and context, it's nonsensical. Of course the uproar is because of who it is, why would it not be!?

This isn't a fact, though.

Also, I think any manager who gets a club promoted twice and then finishes 9th in the Premier League would get widespread support from his club's fanbase and understandably so.

It's unbelievable that this needs to be pointed out o_O

I can see where you’re coming from, but I think it’s more a case of fitting in with the ethos and culture of the club. Being a fan helps a little, but being aligned with where the board want to go, as well as the fans carries more weight. The German bloke at Norwich being a good example of this. Another rare example is someone like Dario Gradi when he was at Crewe. Sometimes someone just fits at a club and it isn’t because they’re a fan.

Not necessarily true though is it? Farke and Dyche didnt get the boot. Both had "credit" in the bank for getting teams promoted on a shoe string budget. But Wilder has been removed (not sure if by his own accord or the boards).

Yes results have been awful but lets not forget everyone thought we would be toast in the Championship. Everyone thought we would be toast in the Premier League. One bad season out of 5 doesnt make you a bad manager. The fact we bounced so high was because of his ability to get the best out of the players we had.

Like Daniel Farke and Sean Dyche.

Was it Palace? I thought it was the Chelsea game for some reason. Have you got a link to Wilder's comments, wouldn't mind watching that again.
