The difference in pace

We have no pace and that has been a failure of Wilder's that he never addressed.

Burke the only player in this squad with any sort of pace along with Bogle.

We have none
Yes stood out a mile the amount of times we were caught in possession is impossible to count unless you can stomach watching it again.Well into double figures I guess .The players were not ready to play a team so quick around the pitch with great movement off the ball.
Your right it is something Wilder failed to do on our way to the premiership ,been a failing right through from the off.

Been saying this since project restart commenced and we looked like we'd aged 20 years in that period.

We didn't address it in the short preseason and now look like an over 35's pub team that inadvertently finds itself in a Under 21's tournament.

Athletically it's men v boys - or old men V young virile boys...

Whoever takes over this summer needs to get an athletic trainer and a strength & conditioning coach on board

Both pace and technical ability. I don't thin we have a player who can carry the ball at pace. Burke can run fast in a straight line. George used to be able to gig the ball and go but doesn't nowadays.

The Leeds vs Chelsea game for scary. Such a constant high tempo. We'd have been slaughtered.

You want a striker who scores goals in the PL with pace on our budget. Deluded.

Premier League football isn't about raw pace, it's about how quickly your brain works and the technical ability to control a ball dead.

This buys an extra second or two to think, to see a team mate in space or to see a runner.

This makes everything look slicker and quicker than anything we can do.

In terms of pace if our team lined up 50m sprints with others we'd probably fare ok, but they're not sprinters, they're footballers.

Just look at the goal Erik Lamela has just scored for Tottenham, the quick thinking, the technical ability and the bare faced cheek of it.

Any single one of our players I don't care who it is would have tried to control it, let the ball bounce of his foot and lost his chance.

They haven't the ability to be able to dream about doing it

Agree the whole Sports Science set up needs looking at. It is alarming how the players fitness and conditioning has fallen off the edge of a cliff since Lockdown. The players look knackered before a ball is kicked and that will affect speed of thought during the game. Something has drastically gone wrong, over training during the week, lack of rest time or short pre season? who knows but someone needs to get hold of this as our pressing game has disappeared.

We needed pace in the squad in general. Certainly in midfield.

We have next to none and if we are not going to move the ball quickly then its glaringly obvious we have players with no pace in the PL.

It's mobility mainly, we can't compete, they are quicker to the ball or able to catch our players in possession by closing us down.. If we try to get away from a man they've dispossessed us in a couple of strides because they are more mobile.. Deny us time and space, starve us of possession and they've more or less won the game, and then yes pace comes in to it, especially when we're caught high up the pitch and facing our own goal.
We have to be at the top of our game to win games at this level.

"THE SYSTEM DOESN'T NEED PACE!"

Just because Chris has gone, it doesn't mean this statement from him isn't true.

Watching Fleck today reminded me of an episode of Harry's Heroes when you see a former great like Merson still has all the skill but physically just doesn't have the legs to match his speed of brain...
