You can interpret that how you wish to interpret it. Yes, he walked because they said no, or no, they pushed him to walk by not agreeing to his requirements. Take it as you see fit.

Btw, the last requirement was to retain sole responsibility for first team affairs. It’s pretty obvious CW was never going to agree to a D of F. He’d made that perfectly clear before. So, did he walk, or was he pushed?

Depends if he walks straight into Celtic job on higher pay. If he does then does that mean he would have stayed if that opportunity hadn't arised?

and just add, having listened to Bettis, he just said that the decision by the board was not taken lightly. Draw your own conclusion from that, but doesn’t sound exactly like he walked does it?

Which could easily mean the decision to accept his resignation wasn’t taken lightly. None of us know exactly what has happened but keep blaming the club if you like.
