Jags is an accomplished defender who rarely gets booked - 26 yellow and (now) 3 red in 15 seasons and 368 games. An average of 3 yellows in a full playing season of 38 games bears witness to an essentially fair player. His other straight red was controversial (last man, questionable) at Wolves for Everton plus he got a 2nd yellow in the dying seconds of Liverpool Derby. So basically he's never been sent off for a nasty tackle in his entire career. He deserves a fair hearing from the FA.

That's an impressive record for a modern central defender. I don't think it has any relevance to last night's card. The only question about last night's decision is whether it's an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

He has always had great pace and power. Combined with an incredible ability to read the game. This will have contributed significantly to the disciplinary record as above. Rarely outpaced, out muscled or out thought enough to draw the mistake.

Fantastic pro. Fantastic career.

Really disappointed now after reading the title and then coming here I thought Jags had released a single to take the mickey out of the Referee. Was just going to see if I could find it on the radio!

I’m just mad about the red card
It wasn’t an opportunity
He was miles from the goal
That was very plain to see.

It should have been a yellow.
It should have been a yellow.

Sorry.

The sending off v Watford at the Lane followed no long after the sending off at PNE. I think he was sent off by the same ref. The PNE red was rescinded. That performance was great, not sure if it was better or worse than the Brentford match a couple of years ago when Sharp came on and changed the game, or last night's rearguard action

I seem to remember him getting sent off at the Lane vs Watford back in the day. Another joke decision.
Yeah I would have put money on him getting sent off before for us, in his first stint.

Are we the only club that never appeals a red card ? Did we not have representatives at the club that could have put a good case for overturning the decision ?
