Nah, mini-golf is just a game.

This is a lifetime investment of passion, money, blood, sweat and tears my friend. The conduit through which bonds are formed, dreams are built and hopes are dashed.
I would have it no other way.
Said in the voice of Morgan Freeman (but not the mini-golf bit) :)

“Sheffield are piss poor all over the park. Their defence gets tied in knots when players run at them, their midfield has no quality or creativity and their forward line is as potent as a chocolate button.”

cant argue with that

Cheers Roy 👍🤯
They can deny the so called ghost goal as much as they like, but we all know it relegated Bournemouth and kept those classless fuckers up.
I have yet to find a single Villa fan that denies the Ghost goal. There is no doubt it should have been a goal but yes, and unfortunately for SU and fortunately for AV technology failed. Similar can be said to the VAR fcuk ups since it was introduced, goals have been awarded that should not have, and goals have been taken away that should have stood. But with the entire 2nd half still to play and a further 9 Premier League games left for Villa, neither you nor I nor anyone else knows whether that goal would have had a material impact on Villa's PL survival last season.

So you just lump it in with the other VAR shit and forget about it then?

It was a poor game between two ring rusty sides, with neither looking that likely to score. You are being very disingenuous to say that nobody could have known how the game would turn out. I'm sure you know full well, that you would have struggled to get anything out of it.

Where was your fat little manager and his Elland Road tantrums about fair play? The gobshite hypocrite was pretty happy with that one, thank you very much.

Your season turned on that and Bournemouth suffered as a result. Credit to you that you have spent well and moved on, but to try to pretend that the ghost goal didn't really affect anything, is mealey mouthed bollocks of the highest degree.

Yeah, we probably would have struggled to get anything from that game but we certainly would not have put 10 men behind the ball trying to defend a hugely valuable point. If we were 1-0 down we would have at least tried to score. As you say, both teams were ring rusty so who knows, Sheffield Utd may have made a mistake. The point I am making is we don't know.

As regards the comparison to Leeds, I am sure you are aware that they are very very different situations. Leeds players were putting the ball out of play, Villa players stopped playing the game. Leeds players changed their mind and just about kept the ball in play and went and scored. That is the Leeds players trying to cheat and score a goal when they shouldn't. The Ghost goal was due to a Villa defender (Hause) pushing the Villa GK (Nyland) over the line with the ball in his hand. The only player who knew for sure this should have been a goal was probably Nyland and yes, he should have held his hands up and said so. He didn't and that was wrong.

The only player who knew for sure this should have been a goal was probably Nyland

What about the millions on TV who 'knew for sure' it was a goal?
And the cretins in the VAR studio at Stockley Park?
You are under playing the certainty of the goal, here as it suits your purpose.
Goal line technology failed and the VAR idiots didn't know the 'protocol' (and presumably didn't have Mike Reilly's phone number to ring ad ask if they could have a piss).
You got very very lucky and yet you still want to 'if and but' your way out of it.

Yeah, like me millions on TV saw it was a goal but what difference does that make. They are not decision-makers on the pitch.
Yes the cretins at VAR, but fcuk all has changed there, they are still cretins and still fcuk up every week
I am not underplaying the certainty of the goal, I said 'There is no doubt it should have been a goal', is that not clear enough?
Goal Line Tech failed but I believe that VAR did actually follow the correct protocol. I think the protocol was written by cretins and it was ridiculous that VAR did not communicate with the Ref and tell him to award the goal
Yes it was lucky but the ifs and buts are basic logical steps. If we were losing we would not try to defend a losing position. Surely, you understand that? We also had 9 games to play and would have approached games differently if we needed a different outcome. Again, it does not take rocket science to work this out.

All I am saying is that neither you nor I nor anyone knows if that ghost goal was the decisive factor is Villa's survival.

Take 2 points away from your total = relegation
You sound like a straw clutching type.

I think scruffy is a bit unfair.

In my experience, an absolute bastard to navigate around. On the times I've visited my daughter who lives down there my Sat Nav tens to develop a mind of it's own and decide that actually, it's just going to put me anywhere except where I need to be.
Same here. Nightmare for t he sat nav. 😂

Just shows what can be achieved with proper investment and strong coaching. Credit to Smith, during lockdown he studied other teams like Napoli, City, and changed their approach and boy did it work. As Carragher said last night without lockdown they were probably down. Wasn't it after beating them in Sheffield last season that there was a debate about whether we should sign Grealish!? That seems like parody now.

I guess it also helped that any signings Wilder was in for, Smith signed them up for Villa.

Definitely lucky to not go bust or more realistically lucky to get 'good' owners. With stadium and assets, 54m is a good price for an investor and someone would have acquired the club, even if it was just to asset strip. But we were lucky with the timing of the takeover as a few days later and administration would have led to a points deduction. As regards lucky to get promoted, I am not sure I can see why. We had our best player out injured for about 3 months, we changed manager and got some quality defenders in during the Jan transfer window. We won 10 games on the spin that season and were by far the form team coming into the playoffs. We played Derby in the final and had beaten them 3-0 and 4-0 in our 2 league games. Lucky with circumstances that led to us staying up but we reacted very well to Covid lockdown and came back a better team.
Staying up. We made the most of the situation that was presented to us and got the points necessary. It helped that Watford liked to sack managers too frequently and Bournemouth was going backwards and had inhouse problems with King and Wilson wanting to leave. It is up to teams to make the most of each situation. Did Blades not make the most of Leeds going into reverse gear when u got promoted? Was that Blades were lucky to be promoted or was it that The Blades just managed the run into the league better than Leeds did?
Lucky that we screwed up a 3 goal lead and you salvaged a draw from a game you were dead and buried in. That was the springboard for your run to the line. You weren't getting promoted before we blobbed.

Lucky 9 cameras didn't work simultaneously. That point kept you up.

Lucky

We rode our luck on one occasion when they hit the post. Everything else was sheer determination to keep the ball outta onion bag.

Best performance of the season for me.

Needs to be an.investigation into why villa keep getting these crazy fucking decisions against us and also why aren't villa playing in the championship where they should be ?

Brilliant Roy!!
Oh, and just for any Villa fans visiting.....🖕
