All those slating McBurnie

The trouble is, whenever he plays, that's how we play. We are a much better team with a small front 2, as we then keep the ball on the floor and at least try and create. Mcburnie has an amzing knack of finding the opposition with most headers he wins. I will give him some credit, he's good at defending corners.

Or how about he actually offers himself in to space to receive a forward pass ?

That might be worth a try for once 😉.

It might help if he offers himself and actually controls the fucking ball as well when its played into feet.

He was running around like he wasn't even fully fit yet somehow he stays on the pitch.

It isn't even the fact that he can't win the ball when we do "launch it to him"
He can't/won't run, his closing down is fucking embarrassing, he ambles back, jogging behind opposition player, he never looks like he is going to score, mis-controls the ball all the time, and he can't hold the ball up even when he does have it in to his feet.
What CAN he actually do well? And please don't say "we look better defensively when he plays". He's supposed to be a forward!
He epitomises our season. He's slow, weak, totally ineffectual, and tries to convince everyone that he's trying really hard when he's just in first gear.
I absolutely HATE watching the prat. We aren't good enough to carry him and he offers nothing but an ability to change our style from a passing game to going long and giving the ball straight back to the opposition.
It genuinely baffles me!

Yeah forgot that bit

Seemed a good idea at the time 😂.

I agree with the OP... but... we look totally shit whenever he plays! There’s a common denominator for me!
It’s Wilders fault really... I do feel like we’re gonna look shit every time I see his name on the team sheet! And it never disappoints!

Even still when he had the ball to feet he's done fuck all let's hope Swansea come back up and save us

Does feel like we are carrying him.

To say he does well defensively for us is one thing but somehow he is pretty fucking useless when attacking teams from set pieces.

Yeah he wasn't great but how about we stop aimlessly launching the ball to him?
Please read my comments in 'Front 2' thread for explanation why mcB style means without a number 10 we have to hit long balls to him. Without a number 10 he is wasted.

I’m really not sure what we hoped to achieve with that starting front 2 tonight. The first half from a team attacking perspective was non existent barring the first 2 minutes.

Thought he did OK. Trouble was lack of service..... YET AGAIN

We change the formation to have one behind the front two and hey presto, we look far more dangerous.

About time Wilder found his own testicles again and had us going at teams from the off.

Hope Swansea buy him back for their PL Season.

Nail on the head

I dont like slagging players off, but whenever he plays our play is so dull to watch, just nothing like what we've seen for the last 4 years. We've had a few positive results with Sharp, Mcgoldrick and Burke then for whatever reason Wilder starts with Mcburnie and its hoofball and shit passes galore. The style doesn't suit us.

McBurnie is not good enough, offers nothing. I for one can’t understand how he gets in the team in front of Sharp, it doesn’t make sense.
agree 100% hes just not good enough at this level and we definetly go too long when hes in side mind ive never been a mcburnie fan hes no threat at all

McBurnie was excellent at Swansea with service from good wide, attacking players like Dyer, Routledge & James.

Now he's got his back to goal, dropping deep, getting hoof-express service and could do with a proper striker (not Oli Burke) to get close to him.

He'd be better suited to a club that plays with wide players.

He's good when we're playing well and at speed to feet in the attacking third. Otherwise he's almost completely ineffective and despite how shit we generally are, strikers should contribute despite this.

See Burke who's not very good at football but runs a lot and McGoldrick who is very good at football and is always looking for the ball, and using his brain to do good football things. McBurnie doesn't really do either very much.

He's blameless because of hoofball or something though.

mcburnie is totally out of his depth at this level might come good next season at a lower level but im not holding my breath an offer of 10m and i would sell take the loss
