we will see the best of him next season unfortunately we needed someone in this season who would make an immediate impact but salaries dictate things im afraid at premier league level and something we will have to address when we come back up

Agree with it all, but especially this. He doesnt seem to sulk or hold himself in some higher regard, which should bode well for his development.

A strong relationship with billy would help him. All the things billy has learned from his decades of experience would help Brewster. Needs to add that nastiness to his game it’s the subtle stuff knowing how to hold your body to make things difficult for the opponent and learning how to commit a foul and get away with it.

Best signing this season or last ... living in Belper already knew a lot about him and wanted us to grab him a couple years back.
To get him in the deal we did was a real coup tbh. I think we took advantage of Derby’s financial situation.
Very strong going forward but weaker defensively but exactly what we need.

Having never played upfront, let alone at a decent level, I dont know whether this is a big problem or an easy fix but he plays in and moves in the wrong areas.

Sharp works hard, drifts wide and holds the ball up deep but its in and around the box he really explodes into life. I dont see that in Brewster.

He didn't play close enough to Burke or support him when they played together either. He has the class and the technique but his movement or at least the spaces he occupies just seems way off.

Completely agree, he looks to me a little bit like Berge did when he first joined. Lost positionally and trying to work out what's happening around him, I think we're now seeing the importance of these players coming for pre-season to see how we play.

I suppose Burke has played all over the pitch, playing up top is relatively new to him. Brewster has been bought to be an out and out striker.

Its like he's learned his skill on the street or on 5 a side pitches and this is his first foray onto big pitches. I'm obviously exaggerating but it can take a lot of confidence and experience to learn elite movement as a striker. It can be done though, look at DCL. That lad has some of the best movement and makes some of the best runs in the division now and when he was with us I didn't see anything in him to be honest.

For Swansea last year he hardly touched the ball most games but scored goals out of nothing
Think the step up and the lack of confidence in the side has affected him but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets one important goal for us this season and kicks on from there

I'm sure you're just being facetious, but a few strikers have flourished under Wilder. Sharp, Leon and maybe even McGoldrick have had some of their best years of their career just being told to "give it everything".

And if he doesn't want to take advice from a blood and guts ex right back, he only had to speak to Billy about finding space and opportunities.
