Loads better wednesday, and great again today.

I was getting very worried he was finished, but a performance like that 2 times in a row has put those worries to rest. He is our most important player after JOC and it shows.

I don't understand why, after a run of bad games, fans get so excited and declare someone "finished."
We're seeing it with Norwood now - "legs have gone, will struggle in the Championship."
Or Brewster, "he's shown nothing. Doesn't even look a footballer."

They're all human beings. They'll go through good & bad patches. I don't get the need for all of the sensationalism.

It's like nobody has ever gone through a bad run of form & come good again, or improved has just generally improved as player through experience & confidence.

Because when theyre getting up to 30, or beyond in Basham’s case, you never know when they can be done. Fleck has been poor in the main since Arsenal away last season. It’s perfectly understandable to think he might have been done.
 
I'm sure I've seen on this forum ,he's useless ,he's finished , the only thing flecky needed was his fitness back after the injuries .utb
 
I think it's clear it was big drops in form. Players don't suddenly drop off a cliff and never come back. There's generally a slow decline in form and performances after players peak in their late twenties.

I agree that it's the usual over reactionary nonsense.

If we play againdt West Brom how we have done these last 2 games then we should get all 3 points and have the teams above looking over their shoulder

I agree about beating west brom but even if we do I think we're still to far back for teams to be looking over there shoulder, we would need to close the gap by a few more points before that starts to happen, I think they will be looking up at Newcastle etc not at us.
 



Outstanding in both games great to see him back.
Always needed to keep playing him consistently through the poor games to get himself going this season.

He's certainly playing a lot better than he did for the majority of 2020. I wondered if we'd ever see him play like we know he can again. Still not quite in that vein of form from October/November 2019. Remember Souness purring about him being a 'craftsmen' after the 3-3 draw with Man U, when he set Moose up for the second. Was outstanding in the games against Burnley and Villa too.
 
If we do go down, John is the one player above any other I am worried about losing to another Premiership team. He knows exactly what should be done with the ball, his anticipation and reading of the game is way above our standards.
 
It is good to see him playing well at last, but I don't think he is quite back to his best yet. I was getting worried about his form as he has struggled for a while now, but the last 2 or 3 games has seen good improvements in him.
One note of caution though, it seems to be common knowledge that he takes a number of games to get up to speed following injury, & in this league we simply cannot afford to carry anyone playing well below par. I am not blaming him for this, he is one of my favourite players, & god knows we are not blessed with midfield players who can reach the levels he can, but now he is back & playing well I have renewed optimism we can make a proper fist of trying to stay in this league.

The thing that might hurt him in terms of interest from another club other than one of the promoted sides or a Burnley is his athleticism. He’s not a bad athlete infact has good he’s able to burst away from a player to make himself half a yard when he’s really on song however he’s not exceptional in that regard in a league which is consistently trending towards freak athleticism over technical ability. Of course the true standout players have both.

Because we had a handful of core players whose form dropped off a cliff at the same time and helped to make us the worst team in Premier League history. Us fans are fickle so you can see why we hit the panic button and probably will again (maybe if we turn in a turgid performance on Tuesday?)

In my opinion Fleck is no where near world class, doubt we’ll receive any decent offer from a single PL club, if we go down.
That chested chance created by Sharp fell perfect for the half volley. A world class player would have hit the target at least.
Also remember he can‘t even break into a poor Scotland team....even though he’s been involved their squad...so can’t be impressing them in training.
He’s been well under par since signing his big money contract extension but it’s good to see that’s he’s finslly getting his act together.

I feel as though due to the short Summer caused by covid...the whole team hasn’t had proper preparation.
Then we’ve started the season under prepared and been caught cold....then shock and draining of confidence had swept through the squad.

You can see belief and confidence is coming back to the whole squad. It’s very promising to see us edging back towards regaining last seasons form.
