As i reflect on our current plight it got me thinking.......

Under previous managers who came along at particularly bad times, i can recall some signs of possible progress, some sniff of how things may get better. From memory, im thinking...... Warnock. Came along after Heath and slowly but surely steadied the ship. I could see after just a few games that we were on the right lines. Howard Kendall..... took over a side in deep decline. His first few signing were inspirational and got us playing football and challenging again. Dave Bassett..... yep we went down under him, but i could see he was moulding a side not only capable of bouncing back, but giving us a Blades team we could be proud of. Porterfield.... yep love him or loath him, he got us out of a right mess and turned us around.

Now here comes our Micky..... got rid of anybody who could play football and replaced them with donkeys. Dont forget, MA dropped Britton even before he went back to Swansea. Bartley, we had him on a season long loan, but Micky preferred Collins and allowed Arsenal to recall him. Hes brought 5 players in - and look at us now. Welcome back to the dark days boys - some of us have been there before, but not sure some of our newer supporters will be able to cope! 11k attendances at the Lane and Darlington here we come.

tuesday night game at hartlepool, cold, damp and as i remember fantastic fun, such comradre.
yes it was an awful prediciment but those were great days, that most now wont remember, 11k REAL supporters, singing, dancing and above all SUPPORTING the team we love.
so casper look back without the despair and enjoy seeing the blades build a new future IF we are relegated.
all we have heard is how shite we are, how things need to change, how we need to spend money.
Supporters, what a fucking joke, if i want to read shit about my team ill pop over to any number of rival supporters forums to read how shit we are.
some have suggested warnock back, no way would he come back after a blades supporter abused his wife in the back rooms after we were relegated, a high profile blades "fan".
so to you and others i say if you not got owt good or constructive to say, dont say nothing, the last thing needed now is our own supporters bitching how bad we are, what we need now as has been mentioned before, we need everyone pulling in the same direction and the return of the siege mentality we used to have.
remember "UNITED WE STAND"

MunXy(still a proud Blade)

Commendable mate. I'm still with you, believe it or not. But MA isnt the guy im afraid, in his quest to enter legendary status unfortunately he's put the final nail in our coffin. We now truly are shite. I will be there next season, but i fear its going to be a loooooong hard road.

At the time I thought Basset was the worst thing that has ever happened to our club.

I was gutted when we announced him as manager and when we went down felt vindicated in how I had had felt.

What do I know about footie was what I thought when I walked up those steps onto the John St stand to watch us take on Scumpool.

Looking forward to the Millwall game.

I wasn`t, I remember his first home Vs barnsley scum, last minute winner (late anyway) from Tony Agana, the surge on the Kop, hitting the Crash Barrier

One moment in my life, awesome, hit that barrier and doubled up, the price of winning, remember it like it were yesterday ...... and winning 0-1 at Chester and Bournemouth .. epic

It is time to back the boys, make the Lane a difficult place for visitors and put our faith in Adams to turn it around. On today's evidnence we are lacking belief more than anything. We can stay up but the fans need to support the team more than ever before as the current crop of players need all the help they can get!!!

You see that emphasises one of my main points. What sets good managers aside from indifferent ones is the ability to motivate and get players believing. On the evidence so far MA (for all his passionate words) isnt doing this. Basset could do it, Warnock could do it. When you are basically putting your faith in hoooof football if everybody isnt 100% together then it fails miserably.

I will always back the players - you wont find me booing on match day, but im afraid (yet again) we have dropped a massive bollock with our choice of manager. Its not just on the evidence of individual games, but looking at our team now (with his 5 signings) and the way we have set our stall out for survival, we are far weaker than we were before.

I said at the time and I will say it again - wtf did Carver do wrong? In the 3 games he had we saw a marked difference in our play - we were passionate and fighting for our lives, but I could also see an chunk of light there - there was some method and strategy to our play.

Unfortunately I think you may be right re our manager and agree with your comments about Carver also. I heard from a very good source that most of the board wanted to give him a chance but McCabe and his son insisted we brought in a "Blade". Maybe someone ITK can confirm this.
