Some of our fans moaning because we didn't totally destroy Plymouth/Bristol Rovers. I watched City make very hard work of Cheltenham Town last night, does that make them wank?

Yes we all know our league situation is dire, but all the more credit to the boys for not slipping on a very real banana skin! You can only beat what's in front of you, which we did. Cup games are never a given against lower league opposition. Given our current form they would have been bang up for causing an upset and probably had bags of confidence. Well done blades.

Yes we have beaten two lower half league one teams in the FA cup whoopee dooo

It was mostly a good performance for a team so short on confidence
We dominated for 70 minutes until the subs disrupted our performance levels
Thought Billy was great and he will have a lot to offer next season on the other hand I thought Stevens was generally woeful. Ramsdale no comment
We obviously need to be active in the transfer market in the summer but I was encouraged by the general performance (albeit against a L1 club) the game against Bristol City will be a barometer of where we are in relation to the league we will be playing in next season. We have players that are injured that will be available next season that were not in the squad yesterday that will improve us JOC and Berge in the starting XI and McBurnie and Osbourn to strengthen the overall squad

I didn't watch the game with my full attention as I was working form home. But it appeared that once we went 2-0 up we turned clueless, giving away the ball in silly positions and tried to throw it away.

I don't expect to beat everybody, but 2-0 up at home in the FA Cup against a mid-table L1 team, I expect us to see the game out with ease and maybe ever get a third.

I see your point but how would you have reacted if we had lost to one of those teams?

Given our form this season, would it have been much of a surprise if a lower league team knocked us out of the cup..? It could still happen tbh and there's no reason why Bristol couldn't do it.

Only 4 wins from winning the cup
But blades fans rather look for doom and gloom whenever it's possible

When Wednesday got the fa cup final in 93 they beat some very ordinary sides to get there we were the best they came across.
Never hear their fans saying derogotary things about beating teams below them

No, not at all. It wouldn't have surprised me and it would be no shock if Bristol beat us either.

My point is that metalblade is giving a nonchalant /sarcastic reaction to our two cup wins. I dread to think what the reaction on here would have been if we had lost either of those games.

Yeah it was sarcastic because this season has been shit but that's what happens. If we had lost I don't think people would have gone over the top as like I said, this season has been shit and the FA Cup loves an upset.

In the run up to both the Rovers and the Plymouth games I expected us to lose. I still think if Rovers had the crowd behind them they'd have won. Plymouth played better possession football than Rovers, but Rovers had a better game plan. So I'm happy we won. It's possible that Bristol City may underestimate us and think playing us will be a breeze, and that could work in our favour. I agree it's good test for next season.

You don't think people would have gone over the top?

Have you seen some of the reactions to our losses over the last 2 seasons? Against much better teams than Bristol Rovers and Plymouth, I might add.

'If we had lost I don't think people would have gone over the top'

And the award for the most disingenuous post of 2021 has already been claimed!

Can’t win at all at the moment. Get beat get criticised win in the cup against a lower league team but don’t score 4/5 criticised. Some people must just love to moan, the way some posters carry on it comes across as though they are disappointed when we win.
Any team can beat any other team on the day in the cup. The richest team in the world very nearly got knocked out to a league 2 side. We have no divine right to win any game of football and some of the self entitled comments in here recently I would expect from pig fans.
We have

We've got a great chance of winning the cup this season. 🏆⚔️
Why do we ? As of today , Chelsea, liverpool, man united, man city, spurs , everton , west ham, are still in the cup , every single one of those teams have better players than us and every single one of them have beaten us this season, so why do we have a great chance of winning the cup? Why is this seasons chance any better than any other season ?

I don't think it was going 2-0 up that caused the problems.
I think that more had to do with the substitutions.

I don't give a monkey's who's left in the cup to be honest. With the right positive mental attitude and application, we're capable of beating any of those teams.

Pass me a razor Blade ffs

Maybe you're right, "one of our own" and his amazing substitutions at play again.

It has nothing to do with subs and everything to do with giving the ball away in stupid positions. We go sloppy in possession for 5 minutes, how does that equate to “it was because of the subs”? Are people just looking to over analyse everything? Maybe it’s just more simple like players on the pitch made the wrong decisions.

Depend on the draw . We might only have to play one of those and we've beaten 4 of those on your list last season and drawn with 2 others so could get through on pens
I'd take 4 draws and 4 penalty shoot out wins

We had our first team, city had they 2nd team.

Leon Osman said yesterday that the difference between us and West Ham yesterday was that they went 2 nil up and pushed on, we went 2 nil up and shit our pants. It’s just a measure of our confidence levels at the moment.

A win is still a win.

Yes but that is Manchester City and we are just a little longball club in Sheffield that they can't even call United.

At the moment a win feels like promotion. I too enjoyed the win but I can say it was nail biting time for last 10-15 minutes. We cant waste time on the ball we are no good at it. Best match management and time wasting for us is to just go and score a bloody goal.
