The only place he's actually done well at was Derby and Birmingham and that was in the champonship

Is it back on?

If this happens you certainly can't fault the clubs backing of CW. Wages should be substantial even if we are only paying a percentage and it's effectively 'money down the drain' as far as our Premier League campaign goes.

Hopefully he'll put a bit of positivity into the players.

UTB

If he's up for the challenge, wants to play football and be home every night it's a no-brainer for him.

A quick trawl of twitter suggests it's a tight race between us, west ham, spurs, nice, Porto, Marseille & inter, with solskaer wanting to keep him at Man Utd.

I'd change my opinion of him, if he came to us on loan.

I can understand why he wouldn't want to come though.
Can’t see much downside for him.....We are already relegated so he won’t take any blame, he plays all the games with shackles off in games where we have to attack given our dismal points return which suits him. The only question is whether he is fit but he is clearly better than anything else we have so win:win

Well we are a better option than those tin pot clubs. 😄

The international travel bans across mainland Europe are probably going to give us an advantage in making this happen. We currently have no midfielders on the bench and yes he's not a top 6 player but he certainly is PL standard. If Man Utd are happy to let him go and pay the majority of his wages then get him in

I don't mind him:

Would also be another player whose name most of our fans would spell wrong. Always a positive that one.

I was about to complain about the lack of a misspelling on this thread’s title then I realised 😂.

I really don't see what he'll bring to us. I'd rather we avoided him.

Me neither, he must be shit if he only made a World Cup semi-final.

You keep up that Championship mentality, won't be long till we are back in your happy place..🤡

I don't rate him as a player & I don't think he will be useful to us in our current predicament - a side that has little-to-no ball. His attitude has never impressed me much either & we find ourselves in a dog fight.

Let's not pretend the lad is world class because he played in a world cup semi-final. England had a cake walk in that tournament & came unstuck the second they played a half decent team.

If you think Lingard is a box to box midfielder who will get stuck in, create chances, score goals and give the lads a lift with his attitude then fair enough. I don't.

Not often we agree, but I think you're 100% spot on here.

He hasn't had a good game in about 3 years and became a joke for no goals or assists for over a full season.

If it's just a loan till the end of the season I cant see the problem. Maybe I'm missing all the other international players lining up to join us. He needs games and wants to play, if he has anything about him, whoever he joins, he will be busting his bollocks off to make a good impression so he gets a better deal at Manure of somewhere else. What would be the point of joining a club to put less than 100% in? He would add a little bit of extra quality to the squad at the very least and would hopefully contribute to enabling us not to be the worst ever Prem league team. I would prefer to bring in a player with a view to a permanent but can someone tell me who we are looking at that is better than the current team and is happy to join a team that is more than likely to get relegated?

Can’t fault that, surely he would be trying to prove people wrong, get a new contract or at very least get a good offer For next season..
I don’t think for one minute he’s gonna go anywhere on loan or come here and think, sod it I am going to play shit and just take my wages. He will be playing in a shop window every game and he’s only 28, he wants a new contract or a new club.
he needs to be good enough to get offers and him trying to prove the nay sayers wrong can only be a good thing for the club he goes to, hopefully that clubs us, what we have in his position at the moment, Lingard is a shit load better than, fact!!!
.....UTB.....

We are firm favorites to go down. No surprises there.

Certainly a quality player like him, if we'd got him in August may have been just the differentiator on some of these narrow scorelines.

Shame we went with the strategy we did. 9th was a very good springboard for ambitious recruitment.

We're it not for covid I think we'd have made Europe.

We are crying out for creativity in midfield, someone who can put their foot on the ball, look up and pick a pass, add a bit of composure and Lingard could bring that......but if course that's not the Sheffield United way, we want a midfield full of hod carriers who graft but ultimately have very little talent, certainly not enough talent for Premier League football....which is exactly what our team is made up of at the moment.

Don't worry, the nasty Premier League will soon be a distant memory and we can get back to good old muck and nettles football, none of this prima donna shite.
