Because I'll tell you, if ever there was a pressure penalty…………………...that was it!

Doesn’t fit the narrative anymore.
The previous 99 goals mere footprints in the sand to be washed away with the tide !!
That explain it for ya ??

Why would he hang up his boots?Absolutely chuffed for him!
That said, I'd be happy if he hung up his boots after today and finished on a high as an absolute club legend (he could always be an emergency if needed due to injuries).
I could see him being a really useful coach / mentor for the strikers - particularly with the young lads like Brewster, Hackford, Burke, McBurnie and Mousset. He could build a legacy of a really talented and exciting set of talent if we can get them confident and firing!
Perfect football punditryWas the perfect situation for him 2nd half, they were too deep for Burke and we needed guile, won it and scored it. Well done Billy.
Why would he hang up his boots?
The contracts have been questioned but we have a young, inexperienced but talented forward line, all of whom need guidance from someone they’ll look up to. Whatever happens this season, and let’s not get carried away with one result it’s highly likely to end in relegation, but we’re going to need someone to be amongst those players for them to talk and listen to. That added to the fact he would still be a strong sub to bring on in the championship as shown yesterday.
While I think we shouldn’t be looking to him to start games or even always be in the squad if we drop to 5 on the bench, he’s got an incredibly important role to play in this squad next season too.
and a convenient reminder what an absolute tosser you are.A convenient reminder of the man that you do not.

I don't think we're a million miles apart in terms of what we're saying. Absolutely agree he would be an asset to keep around to help coach and mentor the young strikers coming through. I also don't have a problem using him in an emergency. He's a legend and I'm glad he got to bring up his ton with a win. I just think we should be looking to the future and we have great options up top for that. Why would he hang up his boots?

Maybe so but if they all had been on the field last night with Billy who would you have picked to take that penalty ?I don't think we're a million miles apart in terms of what we're saying.
