my comparison would be Eze , he made his goal from nothing
he showed why he was worth a fee
the ref was the only one on the pitch who had fewer touches of the ball
whether it was 18m 20 m or 23m its does not compare the value for money we got from Leon Clarke

actually Hanson looks like Ronaldo beside him

And Eze is playing in a team full of confidence, who can pass the ball and have a couple of match winners in the side. Think you would see all our forwards benefitting if we were like that. We can’t live in the past and think we can pick up people for £30k and get a proper player. And Clarke and Hanson wouldn’t have got any minutes in the Premier League so value for money is relative.

but that was my point

Eze started in our half and created his opportunity
quality players find space , Brewsters not really offering himself as a target

robinson who we let go to west brom came back to get the ball if he wasnt getting it
id rather hed stayed so far

Not really fair is it. Eze has had 2 or 3 full season's playing man's football

Lets face it ,the whole issue this season is a mess, but then it usually is for us sooner or later in this div.
Can't wait to get back to the Championship were we are at least one of the bigger fishers in a smaller pond and I can enjoy me football again.
Because unless someone or some group rolling in mega-mega bucks buys the club we 'will always be just making up the numbers in this league
Although it's nice to see the big boys at the Lane now and again I go down to see the Blades, my team, win and it ruins my bloody weekend when they lose...... :tumbleweed:

I’m getting Ched Evans vibes off this situation now. Not in terms of character personality or values but in terms of we’ve paid a very large fee for a young striker with a great pedigree. Both players struggled in their first seasons with us in losing sides not playing to their strengths but when we dropped down a level and started playing it around on the deck suddenly Ched looked worth his hype and price tag and hopefully the same will be true for Brewster.

Clarke cam on as a sub against L:iverpool at home last season.

Until he learns where and when to arrive in the area, learns where he should run and why, can control a pass fizzed into him and can lay it off to someone in the same shirt as he wears, then the boy will struggle.. He is a long way from the finished article from what ive seen despite having limited opportunities.. We have bought a boy who has potential, thats all at this stage... It doesnt help him that the rest of the team have no confidence either

Shite....again....don't think he's worth 23 pence! How much better is Billy!!

He's 20 years old. He scored at a ratio of 1 in 2 in his first 20 senior games in the Championship. He's not suited to the style of play we're being forced into playing at the moment; no possession, direct, creating very little.

He's showing more in games than when he first arrived; the ability to drop deep, link play, take the ball on the turn, get a shot off. There are occasional flashes of his talent.
Granted, his progress has been slower than we'd ( & he'd) have liked - but the team haven't been providing him with much of a platform either.

Let's not crucify him just yet. Next season he could be a huge asset to us. We just need, desperately, to sign the right players in midfield to help our promotion push.

Sharp is a seasoned vet. Early in his career, all he had to his game was predatory instincts within the box. He's developed into a far more rounded forward through experience (& a lot of gym work). Brewster deserves time.

Exactly this, if there’s any game in a premier league season where a player shouldn’t be judged it’s away at City. I only wish we could have seen him in our team last year.

At least most hotels are shut. ;)

If he had a run of games with McGoldrick I think he’d do alright.
If we’re in the Champ and dominating possession I think he’ll do well.
When we’re playing better teams who dominate possession and we’re starved of the ball, he’s the type of player who will struggle to make an impact. However this will change with experience - he’s a kid still learning this side of the game.

I think he is looking better by the game, his passing and through balls are nice, his movement is looking good, I think when he scores then the lad will be on fire. You can see he’s been coached by a top prem team, he is trying to alter his trained mindset from being supplied by a world class Liverpool midfield to feeding off scraps, I would have thought its not an easy transition to make, you don’t win an U21 World Cup golden boot cos your shit............
Also why would a team like Liverpool insist on a buy back clause if he was dogshit, are we suggesting Klopp doesnt have a clue wether a player is worth a buy back clause or not, If Klopp rates him and England rate him then there’s a player there...

The flaws that you mention are usually natural instincts that can be seen when lads are about 12 years old. I don't believe you can teach these skills especially not to someone that's 20. My worry is he must have played in more than 10 games now & I've only seen about 4 or 5 moments when I think 'maybe, just maybe. Most of the time he gives the impression he aint seen a football.

Billy’s has scored more goals, created more chances and has an entire career to fall back on. Brewster just started out and has it all to play for. Starting up front against Man City away when we’re playing 10 at the back. He did ok but was never going to smash a hat full.

Mirrors usually hang on walls, you can find one somewhere. Just lower you voice when you talk to your self in it.

of course he struggling at the moment. but he is 20 yrs old & he is a potential talent but he isnt finished article. until he came he hadnt started a game for 11 months & only played 1 premier league team v arsenal. in the league cup

are we expecting too much from him
