Just a quick question for anyone who has been today? How did the young defence get on today? What did the new signings look like?

I was a bit worried with the age and inexperience in defence today but they held out and it seem Simmo was back to his best by reading the tweets from S24SU.

From the O/S:

"United's back four's ages were 19, 20, 21 and 22 and included two debutants but they showed maturity beyond their years to do a magnificent job in holding Coventry at bay."

Thought the new lads looked fairly solid and up for it (possibly get a few bookings in the coming weeks :)). Bartley was a little shakey and got turned a few times when he should have done better.

Parrino seems to look better every match he plays to me (though quietened second half).

Simmo looked more confident and pulled off some cracking saves.

Oh oh oh he's magic, you knowwwww, you'll never get past him, SIMMOOOOO!

I havent been today, but listening to the reports on sky sports we got battered a bit, so keeping a clean sheet must be a bonus today regardless of the result. Just a shame that we havent scored for the first time in a while, but still a good result against a decent team and something to build on.

In truth Coventry had a fair few chances and their finishing was poor. Whilst I'd love to say the clean sheet represented a superb defensive display, they could easily have scored 3 and we'd be looking at it differently.

Still, for a first game together for a new defensive combination - especially one so young - it wasn't bad, and hopefully the clean sheet will give them confidence and something to build upon.

For me - given that we are capable of scoring goals, but weak at the back - it's our home results which will keep us up, or not. In between we just have to try to scrape odd points away to help things along, and we did that today. We need to follow it by beating at least one of Norwich or Leicester.
