These guys hold us together. How the hell do we replace the first two. They really are great footballers for this club.

I think these guys are consistently good, through the time they have been here, really immense and on balance Basham tops the lot. Did he not come in the Clough era or has senility taken over for me?
I think so, wilder turned his career around tho

You are right but CW is beginning to bring the new (younger) signings through into the first team arena, it will be a slow transition but i's happening. Basham and McGoldrick are both thirty one so we have to plan for their demise, McGoldrick already doesn't finish many matches, he needs the rest and probably a lot of massage to keep him fit.

And add up how much that lot cost?? About a third of a Berge or Brewster

looking just at transfer fees its not even a third, more like a tenth. Egan was ~£4m, JOC/Baldock were a couple of hundred k, Bash and Didzy were free. £5m on these 5 vs £50m on likes of Berge and Brewster, I know who I'd rather have for those outlays!

As out of form as they are chuck in Fleck and Enda aswell and you've got, at the very worst, a top end Championship level spine that we acquired for virtually nothing yet haven't come close to improving despite spending north of £100m in the last season and a half.

Yes, yes agree, what I meant in the OP was how do we replace them. Bash and DM are really immense players. Shame they weren't 5 years younger..

Why do we need to replace them they are not sold or injured ? OP does not make sense.
Because at their age any injury could be a career ender and there’s no guarantee after any summer they come back the same player once the legs go it’s over and that can happen very quickly.

Fortunately there's no sign of Basham slowing down, I honestly think he'll be a Ryan Giggs type. They're the sorts who just have phenomenonal natural fitness, and therefore tend not to slow down physically as rapidly as some do.

Basham will go on till 40 he is made out of left over lego bits from kits that you always find at the end when you have finished building.
