Great to see us beat them bastards but I hate all this shit of running to the camera in the corner like they’re some big time Charlie’s. I’ve played for the blades at junior level but would never do this shit or start pointing to my name on my back? Can someone have a word and say you’re more likely you’ll be a postie than a footballer so don’t act a cock?

May have been pre planned on this occasion to get some photos for Twitter, but in general, could it be something they're instructed/taught to do?

Recognising and celebrating success is a very powerful motivator for individuals and teams because it reinforces the meaning behind all that hard work and it shows appreciation for the achievements. This, in turn, boosts our self-esteem and it motivates us to take the next step towards achieving the next goal.

It also seems united are making quite an effort to connect supporters with teams at all levels via social media see the creation of accounts for our development sides. It’s cost effective for United to only have one photographer there so the lads will all know where he is and want a good picture for themselves to have. It’s an achievement to be playing academy football at all and they’re probably proud of themselves and let’s face it if any of us were playing for United at any level and we’re smashing a Wednesday side 3-0 we’d probably feel quite good about it too.

They've sealed it all off now. You can't even watch through the fence on Shirecliffe Road. It's all gated. There used to be a small gap round the corner on Firshill crescent where you could see maybe 2/3rds of the pitch but not one goal at the top of the hil so if someone was that desperate to see something thos might be an option?

Shame that even parents can't even go and watch socially distanced. It's not much different to park football where people can freely watch but suppose they don't want lots of people in and out of the Academy.

No first team, no u23s and no u18s.

Stand in the Timbertops Car Park and look across the U16 pitch is the option. Although, it is much easier to watch the National Football Youth League games, they're not at Shirecliffe. Report follows.....

The guy who does the SUFC Development Social Media is a sound fella. He's helped the Carrier Bag Firm out a few times, with pre Covid Behind Closed Doors games. He's quite a high profile journalist in "another sport". In the modern world, with hardly anyone allowed in Shirecliffe or other Academies, I suspect he's become closer to the team. They're not exactly in the same bubble. But, they'll be in each others orbit. I think he just positions himself in that corner at Shirecliffe & the players know to run over there & celebrate because it's great fun. Personally, I love the Academy Social Media feed, I think it hits a great tone. But .... I'm biased.

I’d agree I like it too it’s fun which fundamentally age group football should be these lads aren’t professionals yet and have no need to act as if they are anything that adds to their enjoyment should be a positive thing as academy football can be so brutal.
