Watching full highlights again, Giroud almost made 2-1 with a long ball over.

Is there a way we can stop this weakness without throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

That Giroud chance was completely to do with Basham being concussed. He was way out of position

I think Hendo is sometimes a bit deep with his starting position and isn’t inclined to come racing out to clear.
I reckon that’s the only bit we are missing, because if we sit deeper we either invite teams On or we allow more space for opponents in midfield. Either of which is a bad thing.
I’m happy to contend that we about right and to crack on, maybe to work on urging a bit more from Hendo for those long straight passes.

I don’t think Giroud would have got anywhere near the ball if Bash’s eyes hadn’t been pointing to ten to three FM.

It’s a worthy enough discussion but with just 3 games left now and the form we’re in I think it’s one for the back burner. I wouldn’t change a single thing right now.

Egan is normally the one ball watching though. He’s too slow to play a high line. He was too high today but Jags should have covered better.

Which makes it a good idea to avoid sprints between our centre halves and really fast PL strikers. You do that by not standing flat footed far too high up the pitch when the opposition man on the ball is not closed down.
