Bizarre sub

I'd have put Norwood on and just moved Ampadu to RCM but if Basham's brilliant piece of skill had lead to a goal, it would've looked an inspired move.

Tbh it's not going to matter who is in the back line if they keep pushing up when there's no pressure on the ball, against forwards with this kind of pace.

Substitutions have always been the gaffer’s biggest weakness. He’s surpassed himself tonight, though.

Jags barely gets any games at all but he now makes it 3 games out of 3 v Man U - arguably the quickest strike force in the league.

You couldn’t make it up...

This would’ve been the only substitution he could’ve done instead but ampadu has played well at CDM he’s pushed forward to help the press at times and still got back into position and linked nicely with fleck a few times so I can understand not wanting to disrupt that.

I’m not saying bringing jags on was the right decision buts it’s not a completely whacky off the wall decision.

If you think his substitutions are bad, just give him another £20 million to spend and see how it works out.

First time this season that Wilder has genuinely 100% cost us a game. Bizarre is a great word to describe that sun.

I call bullshit. Basham's just put in the best RCM performance of the season so far...
It's not so much that Basham can't hack it in midfield, more Jagielka is long past it and at the moment the last thing we needed was to weaken defence, I'd have put Verrips in midfield if it meant keeping the defence intact

Why make 2 unforced changes just because 1 player goes off injured.

Osborne was the obvious sub and would’ve done a very similar job to Bash in midfield, without unsettling and already unsettled defence.

We’d have been as well putting jags in net to be fair.

Feel like wilder second guess himself after thinking about going for Osborn first... that’s they way it’s going atm. Unfortunately Chris isn’t making the right calls atm.

that said much better display and we’ve not been bad. Just caught a couple of times against a side who can score against anyone

Jagielka reminds me of the brief spell when Steve Bruce played for us. Past his sell by date. The difference is that Bruce picked himself .

Bash now back in his original position now we have nothing to hold on to. Bizarre

Fans there or not I think we need an explanation from Wilder for this.

What’s he gonna do next? Take Egan off and put Mousset on.

Baffling.
