We don't score goals - that means you don't win footy games.
And that trend is set till judgement day now is it

So all teams who have had a bad run have never come back and started scoring
Sheffield United have done forever scoring goals in your vision of the future

I always thought that any football team in a bad run dont score much . Then as they get better they do. But when we are in a bad run now it lasts forever . Is that the thinking in here

Is that the thinking in here
Yes.

And the evidence is the past twelve games and our league position.

You give no evidence of this changing or us miraculously getting better.

Our next game is Manchester United. Having presumably watched us simply give the game away against West Ham, fail to his a cow's arse with a banjo against West Brom give away two points versus Leicester and be totally toyed with against Southampton, what evidence do you have that this team will perform anywhere near enough to get even a point against Man United?

Evidence please. Not ridiculous blind hope. Footballing proof not evangelical nonsense.

Dont see how
We are probably unable to catch Liverpool but Burnley. ....what if we do the double over them suddenly closes up

Usually i'm pretty optimistic myself, but this situation is now a lost cause. It's not even about "catching up", it's about hitting Europa League qualification form from nothing.

To even stand a chance of staying up we'll need either 9 wins and 9 draws or 10 wins and 6 draws from 26 games.

Perhaps if you could identify in which games we're likely to get those points, we can track the progress as we go along and then you might understand the futility of it.

Would point out we hit that form last season with these players

And this from nothing point
We have played 12 9 v top half teams
And arsenal away is one of the bottom half teams we've played
We have 2 games v Burnley palace Brighton Newcastle Everton to come
West Brom at home
If we can play like we did v Leicester without the error from Fleck we wont be far off. Saints away we were awful but we gave Liverpool a fight and were very unlucky v leeds and villa

It's in no way a done deal that we are down.
We escaped in 91 after being bottom 11 points from safety after 16 games and had only scored 7 so it can be done

Some give up it too easily

20201215_102053.jpgbeat Brighton and Burnley in upcoming games it will look totally different .
We are 8 points from safety that can change in 3 games.
This is the table we have to top
It's eminently possible

Yes, that. Just bloody that.

I might become a Hollywood actor one day, it’s very unlikely as I’ve never really wanted to be one before and I’ve never actually had any training and stuff and tbh I’ve not even actually watched that many films but Sean Bean is a Blade and he did it so why can’t I?
Our players went to the equivalent of RADA.
Your one role as a shepherd in the school nativity discounts you

Our survival depends on us reaching a magical figure of points needed to stay up.

What's this magical figure, then?

Extract from the Premier League website

"Over the past 23 seasons, the 18th-placed team, the highest to go down, have averaged 35.6 points.
So, 36 points would have been enough to stay up on at least 11 occasions, as Southampton did in 2017/18.
Teams with 37 points would have retained their Premier League status in 16 of the past 23 seasons."

We're just under a third of the way through the season, say 30% of games played. Therefore, to extrapolate the current points situation of the 4 clubs above us, multiply by 3.3 - figures are rounded up

Brighton - 34 pts
Burnley - 30 pts
Fulham - 27 pts
WBA- 20 pts

Maybe we don't need to get to 36 points ;)

Nonetheless, salvation is in our hands and, for the bit of luck we need, The Footballing Gods!

We're doomed, then :D

Let us see your points predictions for, say, the next 5 games then, and we'll revisit it.

What are they? How many will we get from each of Man Utd (h), Brighton (a), Everton (h), Burnley (a), Palace (a) ?

Bearing in mind this reversal of fortune needs to start pdq

75-76, Uncle Bob said the Blades wouldn't go down. This time of year an' all it was.
Blades were relegated.
Uncle Bob's dead.

When we are mathematically done for that's that.
Until then we're an EPL team.

If we can get 5 to 7 points from them it removes most of the gap 1 win 2 draws or 2 wins and a draw puts us back in with a shout
That's not asking for the earth either

Sorry, Got to admit it's all my fault,
Ran out of red and white tooth brushes at the beginning of the year and the wife bought me these purple ones, binned em and bought a red & white one yesterday,
So things should start to improve from now on..
Sorreee everybody......🤓

I see you didn't bother answering specifically, again. Never mind. We need 7 points from every set of 5 games just to stand a chance of staying up, so 5 is not enough.

And it doesn't "remove most of the gap" either. You forget that the other sides also have five games.

You're engaging in Owlstalk thinking.

I said as a start
Once we get the monkey off our back of not winning gradually improve
If I'd have put 10 to 12 no doubt I'd be called mad

26 games left we need 1.5 per game to stay up
We did that last season so its within our capabilities

So good to know so many blades give up so easily.
I find it embarrassing the lack of faith
from so called supporters

BINGO! “So called supporters” alert. Do I win a prize?

Could do with telling that to the players, who based on yesterday have given up themselves.

I’d have them in for training by now but they’ve probably got the day off bless them.
Yeah, chris is notoriously soft on them isn't he?

blade too long I’d really recommend listening to Blades Pod this week. Roygbiv and Beans are what I’d class as on the optimistic side of our support without being delusional or silly. Have a listen to the stats around 10-11 mins in and then some great points made after that about just how terrible we are at the moment and the % chances of staying up from where we are.

If I was at the games I’d support the team, but on the internet I’m carrying on being pessimistic and saying what the vast majority of us with functioning eyes can see, we’re down apart from the mathematics.

We need to replicate last seasons points per game tally just to get to 37 points. Seeing as we undoubtedly have a worse team then, logically speaking, it's obvious we are going down. I don't think it makes people lesser fans to accept the inevitable. Thinking we will stay up is blind faith based on every bit of information and evidence we have.

Even If we win 9 and draw 8 of our last 26 we still go down in most years. Can anyone really see us losing less games in the next 26 than we have in the last 12? I'm all for sticking by the manager, team and club but I don't think deluding ourselves that we have a legitimate chance of staying up is helpful.

So when were you promoted to the all seeing eye of the future
You can't know if a McGoldrick shot going 5 yards wide won't get deflected in v man utd
Or Brightons keeper kicks one straight to Mousset

It could be all we need to change the belief
I admit a shot would be nice.

We are going to after change tactics to a very slow build-up. so that we can be able to pass to each other.
Rather than just booting it up the field hoping macburnie or whoever can head it on also I would tell Ramsdale to kick the ball down the middle instead of booting it out every time.
