... on Mr Adams ?

Yes its still only early but he seems to be slowly moving us forward and thats what i wanted from the new manager but im intrested in what you guys now think ?

Given a squad in meltdown and a bench full of children, he clearly told them to keep it simple. Not pretty today, but the commitment was there. Conceding two shocking goals, yet again, will be the big disappointment to him.

finishing this season above 20th will do me.Only time will tell with the manager,if we dont bring any players in then we will definately struggle. The most worrying thing is the lack of funds available to Adams,as the loan market maybe the only options again,if we can capture reid for the rest of the season then maybe a top half finish is possible but i cant see him returning to us,he`s far too good for us.

Not pretty, he needs to get them playing football to each other and about defending...

Thought there was much more commitment today and I was very pleased to see how we crowded them on most occasions. Much better movement and Ched now looks as if he has half a clue as to what he needs to do. Got stuck in as well pressing their defence and midfield. I thought we put them under pressure and Parrino was a revelation.

Good game lads - you will improve if you keep showing the heart you showed today.

Play like this every match and we are staying up. Improve and don't be surprised if we do a charge on the play off positions

The first, vital ingredient for survival is in place: fight. Without fight, you go down. Palace had it last season, Wednesday didn't and look what happened. If there are two evenly matched sides battling, I'd back the team with the fight to succeed.

Now Mr. Adams has to spend this week looking carefully in training, getting his ideas across, working on set plays and defending ... By the Villa game, he should be beginning to have an idea of the priorities for the window. Realistically, there are 5-7 areas of the pitch that are struggling but we can't afford 7 new players. So MA has to determine the priority 3 or 4 and act on it.

Hard to judge him on two games other than that the fight and passion was back. A fully fit Williamson will be like a new signing to us. I'd love to see us sign Andy Reid BUT we might need to sacrifice that for a few cheaper players in more problem areas. We are capable of scoring goals, we need to stop them leaking in. He needs to pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat and keep us up - I think he will.

A very sensible post which sums up nicely just what my thoughts were.

A seventeen year old keeper on the bench,Kozzy gets his first goal at The Lane in the 96th minute from a two goal deficit who could believe that.

We must have been drinking the same. I agree COYRAWW

longball. physical.

For much of the 2nd half it wasn't long ball at all. It was certainly physical, but there's nowt wrong with that. What were they supposed to do, stand back & watch Donny pass it around them?

longball.. physical.. donny not brazil though either.. but at least the balls seemed to be aimed at something .. positives.. 4 4 2 and academy lads on the bench.. fullbacks looked competent (finally).. so gary/booty.. how come they've not even been on the bench all year.. no quinn.. yeah i know he was suspended :D

Oink oink ??

We did play it long and we were physical. Donny were physical too, but their football was a bit more varied. No shame in any of that.

In fact it was all entirely predictable given our team's position/personnel and theirs.

Surely better to sacrifice a couple of limited triers on newly-signed and over lucrative contracts? We might be able to sign Reid and the rabbits as well. I think we'd be happy with Reid, Willo and Leon competing for two central midfield places, backed up by McAllister and Academy lads like Harriott?

Please consider on merit. Ignore that it comes from me!

Neither Reid nor Britton look like Micky Adams players to me.
Might be worth sacrificing Britton to get some more pace and strength into the team.
He'll be on good money and is one of the few players we have who someone else might want.

Agreed, especially now that Williamson is on his way back. I'd cash in if we can, and use any transfer money and wage saving to get in what we need. He's been OK, but hasn't set the world on fire, and the most pressing needs are in other positions. Sell him, as long as the proceeds are reinvested.

Nooo! He's a cracking player who just needs to find a role in the team. Alongside Williamson's physical presence he could blossom.

He's a good player, I agree. I'm just thinking pragmatically, and I think that we will need to cash in where we can to give MA the best chance of doing what he needs to do during January. And I would look to move on him & Ward if at all possible. Both expendable with an eye to the bigger picture in my opinion.

Can't see there being any likelihood of ball players having a place in the line-up.
Williamson's got a bit of everything and does fit the bill but not sure how Britton's deliberate approach can possibly fit in with getting it forward quickly.

Yeah, sell the proper footballer and keep the overpaid plodder. For the avoidance of doubt, Britton is twice the footballer Montgomery will ever be.

Mediocrity, we love you!

I despair.

FINALLY someone else that sees Monty for the footballer he really is! 'Overpaid plodder', absolutely spot on.

Stuart McCall played under Warnock and hardly ever hit a pass further than 20 yards. I want Britton to fill the same role.

The only reason I'd accept for selling him is a silly offer.

Who mentioned Monty?

For the avoidance of doubt, I would see Willo & Britton being great in a midfield 5 with an enforcer, but given how we are likely to set up, I don't think they are great as a central midfield pairing. And under those circumstances I would sell Britton. Not necessarily what I would want to see, but as I said, I am looking at it pragmatically. It would free up cash & wage bill for more pressing areas, such as our shite defence. And a fit Willo is much better than Britton for the type of football we are going to be playing.

We'll have to agree to differ, Nick. I do note that you decline to contemplate the offloading of Montgomery, whose wages are as near Leon's as to make no practical difference.

The thought of going back to 5 in midfield, so soon after escaping it's shackles, is too ghastly to contemplate. I doubt many fans (or other clubs) would turn their noses up at a Willo-Britton central midfield. Are you sure you are not affected by the current upandatem mania and associated parochial favouritism?

Thanks mate but the 'finally' bit is quite amusing!
