Did anyone catch it on Radio Sheffield. It was akin to listening to the embarrassing Terry Robinson. He ummed and ahhed his way through it with some quite frankly bewiildering answers.
Seth Bennett asked him Birch if he thought Adams' playing style will be like that of the manager he sacked in August?
Birch then answered with: 'Which manager are you on about? we have had so many managers this season!'
Bennett then pressed him and said 'What style do you think he will play?'
Birch answered with something along the lines of: 'I don't know. I am not sure.' He blustered something about a winning style before the interview moved on. It is remarkable that playing style and approach to how the team would play was not even looked at in an interview when it has been said by Birch this was one of main reasons why Blackwell left the club in August.
He was then asked about backroom staff and if anyone would be joining Adams and Cork and said all the remaining backroom staff would be staying but did not indicate who these are (as outside of Mark Smith and Paul Crichton; I dont see any coaches until you get into the Academy at the club now Ellis and Carver have gone)? He seemed unsure whether Adams would bring others in but doubted it saying him and Cork was it as far as he was concerned.
There were other odd answers and strange comments. For instance it does see Adams says he was only approached a few days ago and it happened really quickly. Surely if he was such a unanimous choice as Birch says why was he not approached straight away or why did it take 3 weeks?
