this is now a carbon copy of the last time we were relegated, from the championship the mickey adams season , when he went 14 games before a win, ok he came in in January not the start of the season but we stuck with him until we were relegated then got rid, , do we stick with Wilder to take us down ? Or do we act now and try and get someone else in like Watford did last season, I know they were ultimately relegated but they were in it until the final couple of games , we will be relegated with 2 months to spare at this rate

Down no matter what we do this season. Wilder does look a shadow of the man we love right now, up to the owner if he thinks Wilder can recover or not.

He looks lost right now and his body language does not inspire a change in results anytime soon.

Let's give Danny Wilson a call. Ask him to bring Ched along. That 's the answer.

We're staying up and Wilder is the man to do it.
I admire your optimism Highfield! But from here, with the ongoing problems of lack of crowds and lack of O'Connell, plus that the league is stronger this season, I can't currently see us staying up. A few wins changes everyone's perspective, but I can't see us getting them away at Southampton or home to Man U, so that's two more games for starters. I don't even want to look who's after! I know we've got Brighton coming up, maybe that'll be the one.

My most realistic outcome currently is that we make more of a fist of this, just to avoid the embarassment of Derby's lowest ever PL total, and, more importantly, Wilder must stay and maybe we make a couple of signings in midfield this January, sell Lundstram, and go into next season with positivity. We should get promoted instantly with this squad and manager, but its whether both of those stay that's the worry, obviously.

I've changed my tune admittedely, and I won't be criticial because I can see we're giving our all, its fine margins and all that, but every week we lose due to fine margins. The manner of yesterday's defeat will be crushing to an already low morale. Fulham and Burnley are looking stronger and Burnley look like they're about to be took over and probably spend a few quid in January. I can't see three tems we're gonna finish above right now.

Have you had a vision Highfield !
The pressure is off now as we are in a hopeless position, maybe that could have a positive effect on the team .
Being outclassed in almost every game is tough to watch.Yes we stay in the game which is down to the organisation skills of CWAK that's it !! we havnt the nous rebuild on that and a goal comes at some point to beat us.
I agree with Wilder ! it's not the system at fault we just dont have the quality to make it work .Quality is not just nous on the ball decision making is very important and we lose out there just as much .
Will Wilder stay he is hurting just as much as us and that must cloud his judgment.

We have only been outclassed by Chelsea. bad defending errors have cost us in most games.

Wilder should stay, there's no other manager out there who can come and get any more out of these players. We don't have the personnel to play with a different system as we only have one winger at the club (Burke) and no attacking midfielders to play behind the striker/s. So we are better to stand by him and hope he can turn it around. If he can't, then there's no one better to bring us back up. Put it this way, if he was available then practically every team in the Championship would want to appoint him.

Whilst I'm not throwing the towel in on this season, I think the writing is on the wall and it will take a miracle to stop up. If the inevitable happens, Wilder needs to take a long holiday over the summer and come back refreshed and ready to go again. If we go down in the disastrous fashion it currently looks then it can be difficult for teams to arrest the slump, so a rejuvenated Wilder is going to be required.

We then need to learn the lessons of this season, namely the poor recruitment since we won promotion. Our model, with Wilder being at the heart of everything, doesn't work well in the Premier League, I'd go as far as to say that not another manager in this league is as involved in recruitment as he is. We need to address this, put a proper recruitment team in place to work with Wilder and to broaden our scouting horizons and use the European market. It's no good just going down and not changing anything.

Watford got through 5 managers last season including caretakers. The 4th got them outside the bottom 3 with 2 games to go then they sacked him as well and got relegated.

Genuinely interested in why u think that , other than because u are a blade , if say west brom were bottom on 1 point , would you genuinely see them staying up? I've watched west brom a few times and they are crap and I believe they will finish bottom , however they are the only side I've seen that are worse than us , so I'd be interested to know which other teams u believe that we can catch ? Fulham score goals and Burnley are capable of a clean sheet , brighton are better than us full stop

20th nailed on

No you’re wrong. It’s actually a carbon copy of 1990 when we won our first match the week before Christmas but finished 13th

Unfortunately, I think there's a few marked differences between this season and 90/91. Deane, Agana (when fit) and Tracey. Deane and Agana could punch holes in opposition defenses and regularly did, Tracey could keep us in games at the other end with worldies when required. The current team don't have that. The other difference is no crowds. Think of that 90/91 season when we started winning the Kop was virtually sucking the goals in. Forest, QPR, Derby last minute winner, Southampton when we battered them. Then some of the big guns came along and they got a beating too, Man U, Chelsea, drew with Spurs.

I'd say we're in for a 75/76 type season rather than 90/91. I'd still stick with Wilder though.

Really, I thought we had 3 points then. We certainly had more goals.

Smirth hits the nail on the head with the comment, that every championship club would want wilder as manager should he become available.

Look at Norwich now, thier fans accepted early on that the club didn't invest on going up and would probably go down last season which they did, it's a dangerous game they're playing with parachute money, but seems they're doing OK at the minute, the key to it was not Sacking the manager because they knew he was the right man to get them back..

We could learn a lesson or two from that, the echoes of the voices of some blades fans who wished Warnock hadn't been sacked can still be heard today, as it lead to years of failure, let's do it a bit differently, we know he's the right man, this league is the best in Europe and possibly the world, and I remember us all saying we've overachieved by getting up, let's acknowledge that right now, and watever happens, well we've had a go haven't we.. In the big league.

Stick with the man through it all, we know what the the problem really is don't we, it's a squad of superstar footballers who can change/win games on 130.000 a week, and we can't afford them, it's not Chris Wilder and Alan Knill is it....

Sadly no parachute money ? Have I lost track of the strings attached to the EFL bail out ?

Hang on, wasn't the problem in the 10 /11 season that we had 4 managers in one season?

Blackwell went and with him went whatever plans he had for the season. Speed came in changed things around went to Wales. Carver came and disappeared with the leftover Christmas turkey then Adams took on a mess which he didn't tidy up. I'm no big fan of Blackwell but in hindsight was getting shut of him better than what happened ?

Can’t just take a “wrecking ball to the blueprint” this is the comment of a person that is either stubborn and blind or a person that has been sold false patience because theirs no pressure on them from the big boss above.

Don’t agree with changing wilder he’s the man for the job, but do agree with wilder doing some changing like he did back in league one. The only difference between then and now is he knew he would get the chop if things didn’t change.

Bad defending errors are a trait that all relegated teams have

It sort of goes hand in hand with teams that get relegated

Ever team ( other than WBA) have been technically better had more pace and looked fitter than us
