I reckon that Ched Evans' first half performance has taken his tally to 3 for losing men their job as Manager, Sheffield United this year. He has looked fast asleep all too often which have undoubtedly cost us better results and the points that go with them.

If anyone doubts whether Gary Speed's exit was down to him, it was only a matter of Gary jumping before he was pushed.

Granted, his second half performance yesterday was much improved. Thankfully his recent goal tally might tempt interest from other clubs during the transfer window.

Out of interest, how would you rate the service to Ched and the guys at the back in the 1st half?

Middling to very shit myself, he still did plenty right at times in the first half, but had to wait for support, plus contending with a back four for the most part never helped the lad.

I doubt Gary leaving was anything to do with Ched on his own, maybe the team not gelling the way he hoped may have helped his decision, as TopBoy says their have been far worst on display most of the season.

Did you think that, because he was up front on his own all of the first half that could have affected his performance?
Give the lad a break FFS.

i take it you have just read about United from the forums rather than going to the matches yourself because that is is almost a 'Curtis' type post from Blades Mad.

Just to humour you, please explain how the performance of one player can cost the job of 3 men, when one was sacked, one resigned, and the 'third' isn't a permanant manager ?

Once McCabe finds out that the fans think that we've only got one player, he'll be off down the market with the rest.

Speed tried getting the whole squad playing football that they obviously carnt play which lost every ounce of confidence they had. Yes evans has been poor this season no doubt about it but so has the rest of the squad but look at the differance its made now reids getting the balls over too him. Any manager who plays evans has a lone striker deserves the sack and united need to drop this stupid 4-5-1 formation and give him some help upfront

Poor, poor Ched.
Made for life, would never have to work another day in his life if need be, and we should feel sorry for the poor lamb for being a shit footballer.
It's a funny old world.

when 90% of the rest of the squad are just has shite at the minute

Not many of them have cost us £5m for bugger all in return.
Chedwyn is right up there with the ultimate symbols of what's wrong with modern football.

Get off the his back. He was our best player yesterday by a country mile along with Reid.

Like I have said since he joined, he isn't missing chances. He just doesn't get enough chances. I bet if you compare chances to goals, his average is pretty good. Yes, part of that is down to his positional sense BUT when he gets a chance, he generally sticks it away. In the last two games, he has had three chances and scored three goals. I wonder whether we need to bring in a dedicated attacking coach to work with Ched, Boggy. Hendo, Ward, Cressy and the creative midfielders that can give Ched the direction he needs. Too many times he is in a position where he has no chance of scoring a goal.

The best advice anybody could give Ched for me is that GOOD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU GET IN THE BOX!

It doesnt help when he is up front on his own & he has to drift wide to try & put pressure on the opposition defence or chase loose balls, because there is no-one else up there with him. At times he doesnt need to do this of course but he needs someone up there with him to help.
The sooner Henderson gets back the better.
Were the hell has this 5M figure come from Lenners?

Good lad Ched!

He often struggles in the lone man up front role, as he did yesterday.
Puts up with often being the fall guy when the subs board goes up.
Desperately needs a partner up top
Has been rubbish in the air
Far too often has been too slow to react.

But, I'm still behind him, took both goals well yesterday, especially the cracking header. Perhaps a sustained run in the team is what he needs and what he deserves!

More of the same please Chedwyn, just hope that the idiots at the back can sort themselves out.

Yes, yes, poor, poor Chedwyn.
So misunderstood. Such a great player really. It's just everyone else's fault he's wasted £5m of our money.

Yep, agreed. He really needs to work on his positional play. I've had a theory that due to lack of confidence he's actually hiding from goal scoring positions. With 3 good goals in 2 games, let's hope that he's on a high and this will kick start something that's not been evident to me in 18 months. I'd really love to be proved wrong.

3 goals in 2 games and people bitch about him? Idiots.

I take it that's tongue in cheek? I think people bitch about £5M in fees and wages for about 10 goals in return. His bank account is big enough to cope, worry not.

No, it was genuine. Why do people complain about a striker just as he is scoring more than a goal per game?

Also why does how much he is paid affect his performance? If he is paid 10p or a million it doesn't change the service he gets.

i'm not a big fan of monty as a footballer but him in a 451 is a waste.. he can cover the ground of two players which allows a 442.. he is lost in a 451.. if you are going to play the lad at least play to his strengths

weres this fee of 5 mil come from ? i thought we,d only paid 3

£3M in fees, £2M so far in wages.

I agree it's not the time to complain. It's time for optimism. At the same time, singing his praises too highly after 18 months of him having our pants down would be incredibly hypocritical.

Would you expect the same from Jordan Slew as Ched Evans? I wouldn't. When he rightly grabbed the £3,000,000 contract, he also rightly took on large expectation. I'm sure he'll cope with it when he parks up the Bentley...:)

His 'performances' have been a disgrace to the red and white shirt, whatever he got paid.
The fact that he's got rich off the back of our club for doing 'eff all for it just makes it worse.

Bang on. And in teams that struggle like we are at moment, front players often go looking for the ball. He needs to suppress this instinct whilst we are playing one up front though.

Do you think that is the most important thing to him his bank account?

The fact has been since someone has been providing him decent service he has scored. The service from wide area has been shit for a few recent seasons which is the reason all of our forwards have struggled for goals over that period.

No, I think what I said. That when he accepted a huge contract paid for out of our season ticket money, he accepted the responsibility of living up to it. Do you disagree?

Paper over what's been clearly evident all you want, his performances have been totally woefull, whatever the service. I can't see how anyone can defend them. Service doesn't alter his positional sense, his posture, the ease of which he's brushed off the ball, his ball control, his technical ability, his pace - all which have been short of the most basic of strikers.

If he picks up his game as per the last 2 games, then I'll have no complaints.

You don't rate him? Why haven't you mentioned it before?

Your main attack is usually on the useless incompetents running the club, but you're including our Ched in the criticism. It's particularly ill-timed as he's now starting to justify his cost, with a long way to go. look ridiculous.

It's also completely unfair to blame him for his salary and transfer fee, you should be saving that finger pointing for the cowards running the club who authorised the expenditure. What do you expect him to do, walk away?

It just makes you look ridiculous and I'd like to try and help you avoid that.

Starting to justify his cost? Yeah right, £5m down, more to come, and you think he's starting to justify his cost?
In yer ferking dreams son.
And there's nothing remotely unfair about calling a bloke who generally walks around a football pitch doing ferk all while accepting millions in pay a complete and utter disgrace to the shirt.

It was established a long time ago, even back on BU, that football knowledge isn't your strong point, you'd be better sticking to keyboard attacks on the BOD or people who run forums, or the poor sap from Ferencvaros with English as a second language.

I asked earlier if you thought any of our players played well yesterday, you didn't answer. That was telling, you normally can't resist giving your view, where you feel you're on solid ground.

Trig, sadly my footballing knowledge has been proved time and time again.
With Chedwyn, his 'abilities' and 'performances' were called over a year ago.
It hurts some posters that I'm consistently right but I don't hold your ignorance against you.
What I do really resent is an individual like Evans getting rich off the back of our club and doing bugger all to justify it.
That sort of thing would stink in any walk of life.
