Well done Blades ...well done Ched

I'm a Ched fan and I get some hammer from family and friends for it.

I'll say this: I can't recall him missing many. Yes, he isn't scoring but he isn't getting the chances. He needs to sharpen up, react quicker and work harder at times BUT I think if he gets chances, he will score goals. He finished well today and took his time and I was quite confident as soon as the pass from Reid went in his direction. One more thing: after four minutes, I began keeping a count on balls into Ched in the first half only.

Long balls to his head, he won one and the flick was lost = 0%

Balls into chest and feet area, held up all of them, controlled and found a United player on all but one occasion = approx. 90%

I think that tells me something!

Also - what a stunner of a pass from Andy Reid. Didn't do much else today but Ched simply had to score to validate that pass. I can't recall a better pass I've seen from a Blades player that led to a goal.

Let's hope that when it comes down to the money, it's not a straight choice between SOD and Reid.

We are owed money for Sharp and we have £250K from the Welsh FA, compo SHOULDN'T be an issue for SOD....

Let's hope Carver doesn't get another win, or two under his belt before someone is appointed - cheap option anyone?

What if he actually turns out to be a good manager....

When was the last time we scored a one-on-one with the keeper...

Fantastic result against third in the league and even Ched scored.

Made all the better with those gloating pigs being stuffed in what many are describing as the worst result in their history!!

Up the Blades!

For what it is worth I think Ched is a good player and I hope he finds the net a bit more regularly. He has played on his own upfront a lot this season and shown a good touch and that he thinks about the game. I am sure that whoever comes in will give him the chance to continue - maybe at the expense of Cresswell, who is not performing as he has at the moment.

He dosn't miss many, partly because we don't create enough, but largely because his positional sense is absolutely woeful. We play with one striker up front who spends more time on the wing than in the box. He really needs to wise up.

For what it's worth, I think Evans is rubbish (no, really :D ) and will end up in league 2. I'll be delighted if I'm wrong.

Credit where it's due - good goal yesterday.

Your key point is bolded - and he needs to work harder so he gets more chances. I agree about his positional sense being woeful but it could be worked on and improved. I think my biggest concern with him is that when he does something, i.e. hold it up and lay it off to another United player, he tends to look as if he thinks he has done his bit. I'm not saying he could be as good as Rooney but let me compare the two. Rooney and Ched are quite alike in a lot of ways (including brains probably) ... both not great in the air, neither has lightning pace, there's not one physical attribute to really worry a defender. Rooney, like Ched yesterday, holds the ball well when it comes into his chest/feet area. Like Ched, he often lays the ball off to a team-mate. Here's the split though: do you ever see Rooney stand still after he has laid it off? No. Rooney busts a gut to get in the box, desperate to score a goal. I'd be happy if Ched just got in the box more often for now, good things happen when you get in the box.

I think Ched has the ability locked up to prove you wrong. It's up to him to prove it though. UTB

Chedwyn's complete lack of footballing intelligence was summed up by him wandering out to stand near Reid when we had a free kick second half, at a distance just too far away to shoot from.
He probably thought he should go and threaten to use his 'hardest shot in soccer.'
End result was Reid picking out Bartley perfectly at the back post who wins his header back across the goal into the danger area and Chedwyn's watching from 30 yards away.
It was great he scored yesterday but other than that he was absolutely dreadful.
I'm with Alco in struggling to see where he's going to end up as a professional footballer. He doesn't look Championship standard.

Perhaps the team are told to put the ball to the frontman behind the fullbacks hence 451 has the loan striker running towards the corners?
