Pope clearly in front of Henderson at the moment because he's playing every week, he also did slightly better last season clean sheet wise.

It'll be another example of big club bias if Henderson goes in above Pope and Pickford after bench warming for Man U.

If Ramsdale carries on playing like he did V Leeds and Henderson stays on Man Utd’s bench then he has to over take him and be selected for the full squad

Was it the agents fee 800k thay killed the deal?

Maupay always looked like a ready made replacement for Sharp and would have slotted in perfectly to our style.

I saw mcBurnie as a different type of striker so find it hard to believe it was one or the other.

God knows was gutted we didn't sign Maupay and McBurnie we would have had a good strikeforce.

Nail your colours to the mast.

Who would you prefer?
Can't see us signing both now we look like signing Mousset as it would mean an overload in forward areas, but I definitely see us signing one. Reports of a rejected bid for McBurnie yesterday, RC and other ITK's say we have an agreed fee with Brentford for Maupay but it's down to the player now... But who should we choose if we are only to sign one?

I was camp Maupay for quite a while but now we look like putting some serious pace upfront I think Oli's physical presence, height and goalscoring touch will come in very handy.
It's a hard choice but after much deliberation I'm in camp McBurnie.

Cadette said we wanted both.

That other waste of money Ollie Watkins is ripping Liverpool a new arsehole

The money Villa have paid for Watkins is gonna look peanuts he has looked quality against the premier league champions and bagged 2 goals to boot.

Hard to score when you've not eligible to play tbf

United's own fault, squabbling over a few scraps for the last four weeks and ending up paying even more as desperation set in

That idiot Brighton poster aside - Maupay and Watkins are far better than McBurnie. Not even close. Sorry to say.

Both are more mobile, quicker and better finishers. Watkins scored half as many goals in one game as McBurnie did in one season! Yet everyone seemed to think 6 was a decent reward.

Completely different players. Like comparing Henry to Shearer. It really is a pointless debate.

Personal terms too.

Didn't want to move here, also would've cost us more in fee, wages, and agent costs.

Good goalscorer but we need more besides that.

Maupay is sort of a can score 2 goals with 5 touches player, bit like Vardy. We can't have passengers.

He has got better at being involved though this season.

Maupay works really hard for the team. Roams all around the field picking up the ball. He's certainly no passenger. Having a player like him would have enabled us to drop McGoldrick & play with 2 goal threats.

He does so a lot more now, improved a lot.

Mcshitty looked like he'd given up today tbh. New boy Burke taken his place and about to drop even further down pecking order to Brewster.

Maupay and Wellbeck up front = Loving it

Just beat Villa. 8pts clear of you lot.

Happy lockdown all

Danny Welbeck would have been a solid signing for us. But we seem to have put all our “chips” on unproven youth.

A few of us suggested that it wouldn't have been a bad option at the time, although rather more were of the opinion that we shouldn't go in that direction.

I saw the Villa v Brighton match today and, having hoped against hope that Brighton might be a team that could struggle sufficiently to help us to at least stay in touch with the teams outside the relegation zone, the result - even at this stage - felt like a damaging blow.

Moreover, having seen how they performed, I suspect that they will keep away from trouble. They keep possession of the ball; they are comfortable in their system; they are Premier League-savvy in that they know how to fall over at the slightest brush and how to shit-house; and they have players who carry a goal threat. All things that, sadly, we lack.

Going back to Wellbeck, we don't have a single player in our squad capable of scoring the goal he got. He carried the ball from his own half and finished as any top flight striker should. Wellbeck is a player who isn't fazed by scoring chances in the top flight.

As for the second goal, well, it surely goes without saying that nobody in our squad would have finished that chance with such aplomb. In fact, I imagine that most of our players wouldn't have even considered having a shot at all, from there.

We bought for the future. Brighton bought for the here and now and it shows.

Welbeck was a free and its looking like an increasingly daft decision not to sign him. Hard working player liked by mangers too. I feel he would've made a good addition.

Looks rather bleak doesn’t it....

First win in 7, with a patently easier run of games than weve had. They were screaming blue murder on their forums before this game. Its unclear to be honest.
