When did you first feel old as a United fan?

I've generally felt quite young whilst watching United

In fact on far too many occasions I thought I was a better player than most of the tripe we've had throughout my tenure as a fan

Watching two Man City fans in 75/76 stood outside the Bramall Lane End saying ' I didn't think it would be that much ' attempting to cobble together the admission money between them.

Pay on gate cost each was 65p.

When I remember paying one shilling to get in as a junior & having to stump up two shilling sixpence when I got to fifteen.

First away trip on me own. Crewe away May 83. Aged 15. Nowadays kids aren’t allowed into town alone let alone Crewe on the football special. Mark 1 coaches and a class 45/0 on the front and a small cardboard ticket. Seriously frightened in the crush up the stairs at Crewe station. First lesson on oral sex (not a practical lesson) just a Blade across the aisle had got lucky the night before. Jeff King goals.
Felt like a right man doing me homework on Sunday...

Going to grounds in towns for the second time round when first ground has become housing or a supermarket. Scunthorpre deli counter being especially memorable for the ample sized bird in white top scrapping across the terrace. There should be a bun or something named after her. Fat white iced flailing baglet sponge?? Just a thought,,,

When you can recall the name of your family cat (always named after United goal scorer) can go back more than two decades. We started with Dearden, had an Edwards and a Deano. Then a short cat break coinciding with the years of decent scoring drought, before a kitten arrived in the latter part of Ched’s service. Thankfully he was called Bramall..

May 82 ;)

McGoldrick is a week older than me, so I suppose I'll feel old once he's not regularly in and around the squad.

I am old thinking what a wonderful post this is, compared to all the recent ones about how bad United are at the moment? Thank you 1973blade (btw I was born in 73 so by implication I really am old yes?).

Oh no you're not ;) btw my nephew lives in N20.

When Masters Football was a thing (pretty good too) and you could remember the collection of mid 30's plus players as young and up and coming.

When Jags retires or packs it in, he's the same age as me so I think my dream of playing for united will be officially over when he goes (unless we sign Willy Cabellero) .........then its back on!

At Oldham a few years ago when I saw around twenty young uns queuing for the single trap in the bog at HT , and thought how odd it was they all needed a poo at the same time.
Similar for me, Blackburn away, went for a piss halfway through the first half, two pimpley youths lighting a spliff, one said, what you f in looking at grandad, so I says wait till I tell your grandad you do drugs, they were off like rats up a drain pipe, who's their grandad? not a clue but I bet they avoided him whoever he was for a while.
