Does anyone actually think we will stay up?

I really can’t be doing with all this overwrought melodramatic nonsense.
The Blades will stay up because we have a gifted and committed bunch of footballers that are motivated and well organised.
It’s going to be a scrap but I believe in and support the team; we will do it.

Maybe

If nothing else, we will stay up on Goal difference.

Sadly no, if we were playing well but not getting results I'd be more optimistic, but we are playing the worse football in the league and getting what we deserve.....which is F all. The manager seems dejected, the players too

People saying it’s melodramatic and OTT really ought to have a think, why is it? Or are you just saying it’s dramatic because you don’t like facing up to the reality of the situation?

Yes we can! There’s some fucking dross in this league - us included at the moment. Don’t get me wrong i don’t think we’ll get out of the bottom 5/6, but we’re not getting cut adrift like some on here believe

We've only played 7 bleedin' matches.

If we're still in the bottom three come January/February then I'll start to get worried.

Until then, relax.

Indeed, which is a decent sample size wouldn’t you say?

I'm still optimistic. If we are in a simlar position at Christmas that may change. There's a lot of football to be played yet.

It’s nearly a quarter of a season, of course it is 😂

You could take a 7 match sample from last season where we were displaying title contender form.

But nobody would question why we didn't win the title last season because that would be silly, wouldn't it?

I think suggesting it’s silly to say we’re in a relegation scrap at best after a quarter of a season in which we’ve scored 3 goals and got 1 point is silly in itself.

I think it's silly to even begin to start discussing who is in the relegation scrap when the season doesn't end for another 6 months.

Incredibly, we are still one win from safety. All of our games have been close, so I still have hope. We need to improve in both penalty areas.

We haven’t scored from open play after 7 games. I just can’t see any argument for us staying up.
McGoldrick against arsenal but on the whole your point about our lack of killer instinct stands. However I’d counter by saying Lundstram alone could and really should be on 3-4 himself. The pen against Villa is a tap in for bash if he isn’t brought down and McBurnie has had several headers go just wide which at the very least should’ve been on target and he probably should have buried. Osborn should’ve buried his volley against Liverpool and there will be others I can’t remember off the top of my head. So whilst the goals scored column supports your argument I don’t think it’s for lack of trying or indeed lack of opportunity.

100% we'll stay up!
Breaking News: it's still mathematically possible to win the league. Let that sink in.

I'm a half empty guy according to my wife
Even i think we can stay up.
We are in a mini mini league with WBA, Fulham, Burnley and Possibly Brighton.

Positives
We have Played Arsenal, Liverpool Man City & Chelsea(after Saturday) out of our 1st 8 Games.
We haven't been hammered by any of them, and while we haven't taken any points of them normally any points of the Top 6 would be classed as bonus points anyway.
We haven't conceded a great amount of goals (Which isn't bad considering we are missing arguably our best defender).
We have Fleck & Mousset to come back and hopefully Brewster will only get better.

Negatives
We don't score many Goals.

On the face of it the Negative is a real problem and probably the main reason most teams end up getting relegated.
Our decision making in the final 3rd is our main problem but this is something we can definitely improve on.
So if you add in the fact we have Fleck, Mousset to come back and Brewster should get better with game time and we will have played 4 of the big six (3 away from home) after Saturday I honestly do believe we can stay up.

And if you do think that, what’s making you think that?

All my hope evaporated after the result and performance against Fulham. Clinging onto a draw at the death at home to your relegation rivals who missed a penalty, and we had to score from one to get that point.

The performance against Liverpool was good and hopeful but again we didn’t score from open play. Yesterday we didn’t look like doing so at all. We haven’t all season. Coupled with our defensive frailties and our lack of options to change the system I just don’t see how we can. We look shot.

Chris’ solution of ‘the players need to play better’ isn’t gonna cut it. We were dreadfully short of creativity and did nothing to change that. The transfer window apparently being the best one of our lifetime was always a bit far fetched to me because of that. It clearly wasn’t.

Does anyone think differently? If so, why? Convince me and many others than we aren’t as good as down

(inb4 ‘wouldn’t like to have been in the trenches with you!! 😤 😤)
Yes I do!! We’re good enough to stay up and we will 👍

I love your optimism, sadly I don’t have as much as you do. Let’s hope I’m proven wrong come May or whenever the season will finish.

Yes. Might end up 17th but that is good enough. Losing by only a goal to Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are good results compared to the hammerings rubbish SUFC were supposed to receive.

October was always going to be a difficult month and so it has proved. I'd rather not follow the 1990/91 route to staying up but it shows it doesn't matter when the wins come, as long as they do at some point over the season.

bar wolves we couldve got points from every match. but we havent capitalised on the opportunities we've had

considering the cricket scores man city have dished out then our defence has been fantastic

Tough start to the season trying to bed in new players, deal with injuries to key ones and had some of the best teams in the division to play.

I think we'll turn it around, just need to create more chances
