Both have to now be in the starting XI going forward for me. They provide that combination of extra quality and elite athleticism that this team has been sorely missing. With those two we’ll be a force and comfortably better than six or seven teams in this league. Another defeat tonight but I feel a whole lot better about our prospects.

Brewster didn’t do anything particularly eye catching, but it was the little things he did that separated him for me. The little touches, the positioning, the getting to the ball ahead of defenders for 50/50s. I thought he looked very promising and streets ahead of our other options in that department. I feel good about that signing. Happy to stick my neck out on that one very early.

Ampadu was phenomenal and there's no way he doesn't start against City. Brewster was alright, promising, but he's still young and has a way to go. I think he buries that last minute chance Burke put over though

Was really impressed with Ethan and in more so in that midfield, as it was an area where I thought we needed something else; given Berge (despite what he thinks) looks better as RCM.

Brewster cannot pass a simple ball or control a ball based on tonight. However he's a no 9 and made some great runs that nobody picked up in the first half.

Gamble on Jack Wilshire on play as you play, he would have seen those runs.

If Burke could start putting away those chances, he’d be lethal. He was sort of lucky that other shot was blocked as it was going comfortably wide when he did Fabinho on the outside.

Sort of like Bash, I think he’s going to get himself in a lot of very good positions this year and you’re just have to pray one of them ends up somehow going in.

We need to find a way to get Burke’s pace in the team. Their defenders looked shit scared whenever he got the ball at his feet. It was a pity about his finish at the end. Hopefully that’ll come with confidence. I really rate him so far, though.

I thought Osborn was excellent tonight. There were plenty of positives to take from that game. If we can maintain that level of performance, we should be ok this season. We really need to start dominating our area though. We give too many free headers away at the back post.

Ampadu should be starting really. It makes little sense to loan someone of his talent and not play him. He need to have more confidence and conviction. Some of his passing is really really sloppy. He does a very decent job defensively though and will only improve.

Brewster, for me, has done next to nothing in the two games we've seen him in. It's very early days for him but I personally don;t think he should be starting, just yet. McGoldrick and Burke, whilst both flawed, offer much more of an all-round game.

Ha
people writing Brewster off at 3/4 of a game
I wonder if the people saying Brewster not it
Would have given DKL 4 years to develop into the player he is
Just what the fuck are Everton doing giving a good young player time
FFS will some of you Blades tell em we’re their going wrong

NO ONE IS WRITING BREWSTER OFF

He's clearly a long way off just at the minute though

Jack Wheelchair. Only place he would have seen those runs is from the physio room.

Ampadu sitting deep allows berge to get further forward and has to be the pivot for our midfield.
Brewster played like our mascot, lots of effort but no composure, BUT he knows how to make runs, find space and get ahead of defenders, give him time to calm down and find his feet and he will prove to be a very astute signing

Completely disagree on that one. I don’t think he’s a long way off at all. But we’ll see.

Brewster linked well with Mcburnie - particularly for a debut performance. One went long and the other came short which is all we're lacking really. Don't overcomplicate the game. Brewster also packed the central area and stood on Henderson out of possession, which largely nullified his long diagonals. This shows he can follow instructions out of possession. I'd like to see Wilder persist with the same front two for a run of games. Osborn has been excellent every time he has played LWB for United, so I wasn't too nervous when I saw the team sheet. Having players who can transition offensively and defensively has been a big eye opener. I'm still concerned about us under the high ball though; unfortunately adding Osborn into the mix doesn't help us in that respect.
I feel we have to persist with Stevens and hope that the learns the role and the marking responsibilities. We have to try and create some cohesion with consistency of selection.

A poster which I usually agree wholeheartedly with. But tonight, re: Brewster - no. I think you were seeing what you wanted to see. He was actually quite poor. There was no good movement, he looked weak & his touch was heavy. He looked startled to be on the pitch & lacked confidence. I expected him to be raw, but was hoping he'd show some confidence & quality that we're lacking.

I don't doubt that he might be a good forward in a team that controls the game & creates opportunities, but for us... a team digging in, hitting long & hoping to sucker punch - he doesn't look ideal. Oli Burke in next game for me.

Burke's not a proven goalscorer it beggars belief why we brought him in.

Big gamble, he played like 19 games in 2 seasons for West Ham, hopefully the scouts are looking at a more reliable player who can do that
