Just watched the highlights (only showed "their" incidents so can't compare) but first penalty was a rash challenge from behind by Britton when Jordan was coming across to cover, second was from close range but he raised his hands quite high while trying to charge the ball down so you can see why it was given, Cressy's challenge was mardy and wild. Nobody's mentioned Ched's lob that came back off the bar so I was surprised to see that!

So, keep up the current average of 'success' over the last 4 games and we move up the league. Keep giving away pens etc. and we fight for relegation. That's life and SUFC. All this bile to prove folks knew so much better is kind of sad - but seems to follow most defeats. I don't expect to see our long-term injuries back in the team - Hendo we need the cash, Willo & France are frail and Morgs is starting to slip - so it will be interesting to wait and see what gems Speed can dig up as maybe some youth, speed and energy will give the team some bite after Christmas, or not; but that's SUFC. Thing is you made some extremely forthright comments imo when you used to stand up for McCabe guiding us safely around the chill winds affecting football. Now that we are in huge shite as a club you stress all this stuff about life being short, more important things than football, as if you are the only one who thinks like that.

I accept the hurt. I am not a happy camper and do not enjoy losing. But some of the post match comment attempt to re-write history or wind-up, whereas Deadbat asked the same questions without having to dig deep into personality attacks. If we ever make it back to the Prem we will be a Wigan not a Man U - once there I hope our next ambition will be to make the Champions League. For now I would take a winning streak and a little passing joy. Amen and UTB!

The amount of depression that has been injected into the supporters this weekend is mainly down to the fact Our "MASSIVE" neighbours have just cheated their way out of Debt and they are rightly or wrongly ramming the fact down our throats. As our board room continue to spout "Blades Way" and doing things right while moving backwards on the pitch, having no equity anymore for team development or strengthening.

There is a few things to take note of though. As Leeds, Southampton etc, went down with -10 points and NO Debt, we will be going down with No EXTERNAL but huge Internal debt. So saying that, no investors will step forward and rightly so because of the "Hidden" Debt. We'll be on an even keel with the majority of the other League 1 sides except only 1 thing... We will have no0 experience of what League 1 entails and will struggle without a full squad!

We have no money, so we won't have a full squad AGAIN! Therefore, maybe another drop is the order of business and we all know how well Bradford etc are doing once being in this great position we are (according to some) in. 1 year in the prem and drop like a stone like all the other teams that did it: Bradford, Barnsley, Stockport, Huddersfield......

Absolutely, if you have been given news like I have been this week, then you have every reason to be fucking depressed, get on with it and support the lads

If McCabe had anything about him he'd write off all his debt as an apology for fucking up his experiment with us. £60M from parachute, Tevez, Kyles - and in return we've had utter rubbish for 3 years, failed business models and shit loads of debt.

McCabe was well meaning. That's where it ends. His actions have relegated him to the ranks of the ladyboys and interpol's most wanted that went before him - such a shame.

But before we all self destruct, I remain of the belief that we aren't totally awful - just lacking in key areas. A few lucky additions, which may take years to stumble across granted, could really make a difference.

Small adjustment of mindset required I think. Its quite obvious that when we get to mid-table (bearing in mind that 13th place to 20th is only covered by 3pts), then this is as good as we can expect. For sure we're missing quite a lot, but thats how it is, and we have to trust the Speed, the coaches and the players to do their best. It could all go wrong. It could all go right. There really is no need for these outpourings of depression and bile after the first defeat in four. We all know where we are. For a change, our excitement this season won't come from challenging for promotions and play-offs but from the painful race to achieving 52 points and safety. 27 games left, 8 wins, 6 draws required. Pay attention and count them off.

I am bothered as we lost easily to a struggling side that was beneath us. Granted I was not at the game but having seen the highlights we certainly could have no gripes on either penalty nor the red card. I do hear we had a good case for a penalty and a possible sending off on Rose but after listening to the radio I expected a really harsh penalty for the second and a red card that was not. /Having seen both Jordan raised his hands so could have no complaints and Cresswell's tackle was awful.

I have slated Cresswell all season (he was better against Ipswich and Palace in parts) as he has been really poor. Last season he played well and he deserved the plaudits. He has not been the only one who has been poor but when we have no strikers available hardly with others injured/suspended to commit such a reckless act was totally unacceptable and he should get the maximum fine. He stopped any chance of a comeback and has hampered team selection for the next 3 games. In any normal situation someone would come in and do better and he would be stuck in the reserves for the next few months. Sadly, we all know he will be straight back in the line up after his three match ban as Ward did after his act of idiocy at Leeds.

Having slogged through this thread and noticed how divorced from reality some of the "optimists" seem to be I'm moved to wonder what they will say when are adrift in the bottom 3, which is likely to happen at some point in the next month or so.

My guess is we will start to hear that relegation might not necessarily be a bad thing.

In my opinion we have the look of a relegation side about us. Against Bristol City we didn't really force James to make a decent save, we could easily have conceded another 3 on top of the three we did let in. Bristol City are extremely average, much tougher games face us in the future. We don't have pace, power, height or guile in attack, the midfield has been out-battled on the last three occasions I have seen us play and the defence looks uncoordinated and porous. On top of that we have no depth of squad, an inexperienced manager, a power vacuum in the boardroom and no money to bring in reinforcements.
The bookies currently have us as fourth favourites for the drop only ahead of Scunthorpe, Palace and Preston. Out of those you suspect Scunthorpe will continue to grind out some results but will continue around the bottom of the table. I can't see Palace or Preston being as bad in the second half of the season as they have been in the first but to that list you might be able to add Millwall who are finding the step up a division hard goiung after a bright start. To me third bottom seems a real possibility and from where I sit relegation would be a disaster. The only positives I have felt recently is that the crowd seems to be reawakening after nearly being killed off by the desperate football of the previous regime. Hold on to your hats folks it's going to be a rough ride and may yet end in a crash landing.

Relegation would be a disaster but we can't spend, therefore if we can't move players on or increase our gates without cutting prices then our squad will have to find it's level. Hopefully and I think it will be mid-table.

The supporters have no choice. Well, they can stop going, and many will.

McCabe has a choice. He can provide funds for better players. I cannot believe that relegation makes good business sense, even for someone who wants out.

But I don't think he will fund anything further. He thinks he has done enough, whether you agree or not, I can't see him putting more money in.
We are and have been running beyond our means, with or without the off the field interests. I reckon our wage bill is at least £3-4 Million too high right now to break even.
That's the equivalent of losing our loan signings so it doesn't take a genuis to see what's coming next year and where our youngsters need to step up.
Unless some mug will take the likes of Quinny, Cresswell, France or Kozzy off our hands in Januaryand pick up their wages there is little room for new blood.
More likely is the likes of Henderson (if fit), and Ward I would suspect although I wouldn't lose that much sleep if it meant 2 footballers coming in.

My perspective is similar to Mr Disorderly's, not that everything is rosy - clearly its not, but rather there is no point dwelling on negativity and blame. Some people on here are are showing the same destuctive arrogance that we used to recognise in Wednesdayites of spoilt by a brief taste of the premiership and trips to Wembley, somehow because we are Sheffield United we deserve better and someone else should pay for it.

Remember Warnock/McCabe got us out of debt and into the premiership but it took a while and there were many times in the early years that we were all crying out for a big signing but very little (quite correctly) was invested and we steadily improved (even then people complained). Its ridiculous to suggest that McCabe should provide funds for better players now- the club has to learn live within its means and that means lower expectations, get used to it.

The strategy post-premiership has not worked (but remember only just. In 2009 we could not have been closer) Now its time to retrench and invest time in developing young talent which will form the nucleus of a team to challenge for promotion in a few years (like Warnock did with Tonge, Jags, Monty,) and supplement these with decent complementary talent on permanent contracts; Devlin, Nuddy, Pesky, Morgan etc,- not loanees.

I honestly don't know if Speed has the ability or not - In my book he's a big gamble, I would rather have has someone with a track record. I worry like the rest of us about relegation but the die is cast and you and I can either back him or stay at home. We have lost maybe 20%? of glory supporters already in the last year or so (20k ish compared with 25k ish?) and we'll lose a few more before the tide turns.

For someone as rich as McCabe to allow the club he claims to love, to flounder in the way it is, is extremely disappointing, to say the least. A few million to bolster the squad is to McCabe what forking out for a couple of season tickets is to the average fan (well, almost!). Fair enough, if he wants out then get the club into a decent position and put it up for sale.

The fact is the current squad lacks both numbers and quality and appears to have relegation written all over it. Is McCabe really prepared to allow us to flounder and for all the good work of recent years to be wasted?
