I’d back him regardless of what happens this season, not because I’m a clapper, because I’ve sat through a lot of shit following my team and I know this is only temporary.

The highs last season were because we over achieved. That is not normal. A few fans need to realise this is the hardest league in the world and it’s not easy for anyone

Seeing you say this a lot. But the question even needing to be addressed in your mind betrays a certain direction of thinking on the matter.

And most/all the things posted by you have been reasons justifying why he should be worried, rather than reasons he should stay.

So if youre on the wind up, congrats for making the feeling around here worse for your own chuckles. If you arent, stop hiding away from it.
 
I don’t think it’s time to get rid of Wilder yet, but he’s really got to start looking at himself and come up with something that adds some dynamism and unpredictability into our play.

I think a lot of people on here need to remember that they’re Sheffield United fans, not Chris Wilder fans. Like I say, it’s too early to be thinking about getting rid, but as soon as him being here is to the detriment of the club, it is time for him to go. Hopefully that time doesn’t come until it’s time for him to retire and we’re a well established top-flight club.

Why can't it be discussed?
We've got 1 point from 8 games.

It would be unusual if there wasn't anybody at all who was having doubts about the direction of travel.

This platform provides the opportunity for anybody to open up debates, no matter how niche the viewpoint.

I believe he’s an exception manager and if we were to be relegated, there’s no manager (currently) who I’d trust more to turn things around next season. That’s not the limit of my ambition, it’s my personal view IF the worst happened. I think some are quick to forget the crap we went through for all those years because we kept on changing managers who had their own ideas and ways of doing things and unless you stumble on somebody exceptional (like Wilder) it achieves nothing.

And the other reason of course is that loyalty is a two way thing and I think that he’s earned more than enough brownie points after what he’s done for the club over the last 4+ years for him to see this season out no matter what. Posters on here have been shitting themselves at the prospect of him being lured away most of his tenure.
 
We were spoilt by last season. I expected us to be in a scrap for survival when we came up and were this how we'd started last season back, I'd probably have been disappointed but not as disappointed as i am right now.

That was always the danger, we'd go and get used to dicking the likes of chelsea 3 nil and come to think we were always going to be doing that.

We are still a team that depends on self belief, momentum and fitness all of which make up for the deficiencies in individual quality. Sadly we have none of that right now.

We were slowly making the transition to being a team with a few bits of quality so theres more in the locker when things dont go our way but it's still a huge work in progress and the worst time for everything else to go AWOL.

Both players and manager are in desperate need of a result to try and kickstart the old system and i still think if we get one, we stand a good chance at getting back to the old team but it needs to happen soon. We dont get rid. Baby and bathwater and all that.

I do not shy away from the fact that the question has arisen in my thoughts, I’m not a blind faith type. I’m hoping (especially after last season) we are going to go onto better things than feeding off scraps. What’s more I think the new owner has shown the ambition and funding (lots of it) and wants us to reach our potential not accept little ol Sheffield United should accept relegation cause under Wilder we’ll bounce straight back.
I’ve not attempted to get clicks (couldn’t give a ****) it’s a genuine question, I’ve not hurled abuse back at abuse given it’s not my style and as Grey Blade points out I couldn’t give a jot about keyboard warriors although I’m a bit disappointed in some comments by some I consider to be my “virtual friends”. But that’s social media I suppose.
 
I wish Wilder would pack it in talking about the cost of other squads. He does it in nearly every interview and it always comes across badly. It makes us seem like we’ve won a competition FFS. It’s deployed like an immunity shield against any form of criticism, and makes cringe every time.

It’s a bit like that lightbulb moment he had at the foot of L1. If he looked at us again and had another lightbulb moment. Same old won’t help us at this level.

That’s why I can’t understand the people crying “wanker post” and telling you to fuck off. At the end of the day, we’re meant to be Blades fans. I want the team to perform to the very best of its abilities and finish as high up the league as we can. Whether this is with or without Wilder is of no consequence. He has done brilliantly. The key word is “has”. As soon as he stops doing brilliantly, questions should be asked.

We all want the same thing. We all want the Blades to do the best WE possibly can. I’m sure we’re all hoping and praying for a spark of genius from CW that kick starts our season and we fly up the league, battering the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea along the way.

It can be discussed. The manner of opening the discussion was, however, unashamedly provocative - the OP listed reasons justifying sacking him then later claimed not to want to sack him but just wanted to ask the question. It was not an honest and sincere attempt to open a debate about something the poster has a stake in. At best it's playing devil's advocate, but why? At worst, it's trolling. Blade56 should know better. As I say, disappointing.
 
I know this is a football forum and there is debate to be had but WOW. Seriously if you think there is any question over if we should keep Wilder then I don't think anything you say about football should be taken seriously. Not a personal insult just you blatantly don't really understand football which is ok.

Literally 4 years of virtual non stop sucess culminating in very nearly qualifying for Europe (think we would have if not for lockdown). You think 4 defeats out of 5 with the decisions we've had to put up with in that time is enough to start asking that question? Embarrassing. Liverpool had a bad spell just before lockdown, think they might have won 1 in 4 or something. By your logic they should have been considering Klopp's position. Laughable.

Just to be clear people don't think Wilder has no faults, people arent blind to any mistakes he's made. Your talk of not being a blind faith guy makes no sense. It isn't blind faith why people stick up for Wilder. People think he's shown over 4 years he's an unbelievable manager and from virtually nothing has created the best United team most of us have, or will ever see. Pretty much the exact opposite of blind faith.

Amount of people saying the poster has a point is mental. Why not just stop supporting us now because you will never ever be happy. This era and this team will be the one we talk about in 30+ years time.
 

My short answer is no - wouldn't even consider it.

My longer answer is - I expected people to be asking this question because that's the society we now live in. Things aren't going my way so something must change. Easiest thing to change in football is to change the manager. Hardest thing to do is hold your nerve, work hard at what you do well and accept responsibility to make improvements.

What I'd love to know is how does anyone think this would help? It would simply bring instability.

Finally, I'd love to know what the OP would do once CW was sacked? Bring is a tried and tested PL manager?
