Is it time to change the manager?

56 you say he has been backed and in Sheffield United terms he has been and more but in premier league terms what he has been given is peanuts.
Dont know why I am even replying to this though ... it shouldn’t even be a topic of conversation!
Totally.

It’s attention seeking click bait and we have both bitten which was exactly the intention.

Lads, some of the personal attacks on the opening poster are pretty poor form and reflect badly on you.

Understand that not everybody sees everything the same way as you do. Play the post, not the poster.

If you think he's wrong that doesn't automatically make him an idiot. In fact, those who responded calling him an idiot, clown, or whatever else embarrassed themselves far more and leant nothing to the discussion. This forum is there for discussions.
It's not North Korea, we don't all have to conform to the same views.

Grow up a bit

I think Blade56 is perfectly entitled to ask this question, and I certainly don’t think he’s on the wind up. Nor do I believe he is suggesting we should sack Wilder.

For whatever my opinion is worth, I know we should stick by Wilder, he has shown a fantastic ability to respond to poor starts and learn quickly. I sincerely hope this season will prove this beyond doubt.

On the other hand, football is about success and any argument that we should hang on to Wilder as he will be the best manager in the Championship if we relegated is defeatism and reflects the posters confidence in him.

The better question is, who would we replace him with. I can’t think of a single better manager right now. If we still on a point at Christmas, that question might be easier.

To be honest, if we’re still on one point at Easter and get relegated I’d still back Wilder as the man to turn things around again.

All managers have a shelf life at a club, Wilder isn’t at the end of his with us yet.
100%

Though some on this thread seem to want to give him the keys to the Club for life.

If he were to reach Sir Alex’s status maybe. I’m really not undermining his achievements or him as a Blade.. but I expect a team if our stature to be looking forward to an extended stay in PL.

Although, as I said on another post.. there is no better current manager for our club that Wilder.

This reflects my feelings too. We have either not bought particularly well, or bought well (IMO) and then not given the player a chance. If money’s tight, we can’t waste a pound of it. I hope Lowe and Bogle are amazing but back-up wingbacks (because apparently Baldock and Stevens are undroppable) for £10m seems bizarre. And Freeman was never given anything like a fair chance before being LOANED! If he has no future then at least make money on him. Loan benefits us in no way at all.

To be fair to Wilder he was considering playing Bogle to today. He expects Bogle to feature in the next few games.

The questions got to be asked so I’ll grasp the nettle.

Backed by the board, no complaints there
£45 on 2 strikers
Squad lacks athleticism
Squad lacks creative / technical players
Refuses to explore foreign market
Still tries to polish turds
Seems to lack Plan B other than bring Billy on

We just struggled against one of the poorest teams to grace the PL for a while. New soft penalties and VAR saved us from defeat.

I can’t forget where we were and what he’s done for us but the question has to be asked. Do we support CW at all costs or Sheffield United’s future?

Cant see us buying a win anytime soon.

Fire away 🤬🤕

If we got relegated then the biggest signing for the championship would be keeping Chris wilder

If we lose another 15 in a row then maybe CW May have to go

We play like we did in the first half we’ll have a good chance of staying up

I think some of the insults being thrown at the OP are a bit out of order considering he’s just asking a question and attempting to stimulate debate on a forum where debate is key.

The start to the season has been poor and we have just drawn with what was a poor Fulham side, a game in which we were hanging on at the end. Something that doesn’t bode well with Liverpool, City and Chelsea on the horizon. In fact looking at our next few fixtures it could be another month before we win a match.

He has been backed to an extent that no other blades manager has in history and seems to lack a plan B.

It could be a case of us needing to thank him for everything he’s done for the club but for us to move onto the next step, perhaps Wilder needs to move on?

Not looking to argue..

But on what basis? That he’s proven in the lower leagues? Is that the limit of our ambitions?

Although, having said that, I believe Wilder is PL standard and our two biggest problems will be him being tempted away and/or third season syndrome.

just because our strikers couldnt finish their dinner if they tried. why should wilder go he's done absolute wonders. fault of this is purely & squarely at the strikers. who are giving Craig Beattie a run for his money. because the other 9 players were outstanding.

all made utterly pointless by our useless finishing

There's a part of me that's getting all nostalgic with this. We are in these unprecedented times and new normal bollocks and yet here I am with that old warm feeling of a football weekend ending with me wanting to punch a huge swathe of my fellow blades square in the face. Its like my very own hovis ad

No. Wilder will get it right eventually. We got spoiled last season and stings like a bitch this seasons performances. I just can't get my head round these long balls. Brewster nearly getting knocked out because he's jumping for daft balls in the air. We play our best stuff on the ground. UTB.

Proper dickhead opening post, have a look at yourself, do people a favour and scurry down to that dump at Hillsboro to be with the rest of the brainless knobs. I wouldn’t want you in the trenches peeing yourself in the corner. The best management we have ever had and you are wanting them gone after 5 matches in the first bad patch we are suffering. Jeez !
Easy with the insults there mate. A contentious issue to be sure, but asking the question doesn’t make him a dickhead nor pig. In fact surely a pig wouldn’t want us to get rid of a manager that’s overseen this run of results! I wanted Wednesday to keep Jos forever!

It’s also not true that this the first bad patch under Wilder. The second half of the first season back in the Championship saw our form fall off a cliff. There were also some question marks then about some of Wilders tactics and stubbornness.

To be clear for me, Wilder is light years from deserving the sack, however it what scenario is it ever a good thing for someone’s position to be completely protected, and for criticism of them to be completely outlawed? Bit Soviet Block/North Korea, no? Anyway, welcome to the forum!

Joined this at page 9, are you Wednesday in disguise? Ffs you want to bin the best manager and all the structure that goes both above and below him. I’d back him regardless of what happens this season, not because I’m a clapper, because I’ve sat through a lot of shit following my team and I know this is only temporary.

The highs last season were because we over achieved. That is not normal. A few fans need to realise this is the hardest league in the world and it’s not easy for anyone

I’ve posted on the same forum(s) as Blade56 for a very long time. He’s a top poster and a top Blade who occasionally likes a spot of forum fishing, He will have known better than anyone the type of responses he’d get and I promise he won’t give toss.

We’ve not had the rub of the green so far this season.

Shouldn’t have been down to ten men at villa and deserved at least a draw. Played well against wolves bar 6 minutes. Could easily have had something from the dirties game. Narrow defeat to arse.

On such margins the fate of teams and managers rest. If we had picked up a few more points from these games everything would be business as usual.

We all know we aren’t playing at our very best but need a little patience. We have new players, good players but they need some time to adjust and fit in.

But in this instant gratification, entitled world we live in, there is no chance of patience. If we don’t get three points from every game, some fucker is going to be posting twaddle on here.
