We're committing suicide with Lundstram and Osborn starting every week.
Exactly this.
There is no creativity in our midfield.
Berge Osborne & Lunny don't have an attacking mindset.
I am disappointed that we are not looking for a RCM.
Could Burke play there ?
He's played a season at RWB so he must be able to cover & tackle.
He's a ball-carrier with an attacking mindset.
Burke is an interesting shout at RCM, he seems quick and strong and as you say played rwb at points so must have some defensive capabilities. Just not sure his passing games all that, plus he doesnt seem to have much of an engine, more of a rocket, quick and burns out rather than lasts a full 90 at a good pace

"...in the PL until they've all got wise to it" hahahahahaha!
Do a rewind and watch what Gary Neville said in the match build up before the game against Wolves on how teams know to counteract our overlapping centre back strategy,if he knows the world will know, and Wolves did just what he said.

He should have spent the past 6 months scouting players that feel comfortable in empty stadiums then.

Wilder has always bought in players who have passion playing for United, not those who want to put it on their CV. Which is why the fans are important, as you are clearly undervaluing your worth.

Blades fans can be hard, but always fair and loyal, in other words they have passion too.

If United go down this season, and I don't beleive that for one mionute, (I think we will finish mid-table) about 85% of the fans would still turn up next season the support them.

Can you imgaine Chelsea and their 'fairweather' fans doing the same. They would all go and watch Aresenal.

Tell that to Jamie Hoyland, John Gannon, Bobby Ford, Monty, Quinny, George Long, Michael Doyle, Jon Stead, Lunny and apparently now Ramsdale.

If Sheffield is the 'home of football', then our bit in S2 must be the home of the scapegoat.

------------Ramsdale----------
Baldock - Ampadu - Egan - Lowe
----------- Norwood -------------
-------Berge------Fleck------
-----------McGoldrick------------
-------Burke------Brewster-------
I was thinking something similar today. Without JoC we don't have a critical tool for overlapping centre backs. I like the back four and midfield diamond option you've sketched out - similar to what we go to when chasing a game. Just not sure CWAK would go for a right footer at LCB - even if that's what Ampadu does for Wales.

I'd also go for McBurnie and Brewster upfront and Burke as the option to come on and run at tiring defenders.

When people on here are advocating changes the reasoning seems to be focusing exclusively on attacking.

I think the manager would agree there are a number of tweaks that could be done to get more attacking qualities into the team.

But he also has to pay attention to the defensive side of things. If we're poorly balanced, underestimating the threats of the opposition, we'll be punished. It happened vs Wolves, 2-0 down after 6 minutes. We struggled a couple of times even before Egan was left alone with Watkins in the sending off situation.

Even if we do have a more attacking qualities, it will be more difficult to create and score if we've conceded early. Last season's success was built on a very solid defence. Since then Henderson is gone, JOC is gone. Bash, Egan and Stevens + Norwood and Fleck are a year older, with some of them looking three years older. Our promotion momentum is gone and teams have realised there are effective moves to deal with our unusual style.

It's almost as if people are taking a good defensive record for granted.

I think the management looked at the first couple of games, then the fixture list, and decided it was necessary to try and regain our defensive solidity. It's not worked as well as we'd hoped, some of it due to bad luck/rotten refereeing. We could have beaten Leeds, and losing 1-2 at Arsenal wasn't a disaster and it could have been different if another refereeing decision had been right.

Fulham may be an exception, but we have more tough games coming up after that, so I expect more of the same.

Personally, I think we need to give our limited attacking options the best chance possible. We seem to be looking to turn into a counter-attacking side without the players to do it. Midfield is too slow to move the ball on. We have Burke up front but no other pace (Mouse aside).

I'd play 2 sitting midfielders and press the wingbacks further forward. We don't have the players to play through the middle. We need to attack down the wings but get early crosses in. Our build up is so slow it allows the opposition to get everyone back and set in the box, giving our strikers little chances from crosses.

Having Berge and Nowrood sitting deep plays tho their strenghts and provides a shield for the wingbacks.

Every club will have a list like that.
