I think he was the ball playing midfielder we'd been crying out for and should have built a team around. Warnock obviously fell out with him early on and didn't want to play him any more. Apart from a handful of games at Arsenal, prior to joining us most his game were in the bottom two leagues. Various loans and then spells at Millwall and Gillingham. He left Arsenal in 1997 and had 7 years playing with 'lesser' players before he joined us, so I think saying he was 'too clever' is a bit unfair.

I thought I'd warped to another thread. Had to check and this is our thread of all time signings so all ok now. Start a separate thread for nostalgia. I understand emotions are running amok but today, 2/10/20 17:30hrs Rhian Brewster is announced as Blades player.😎Happy days ahead I hope.

I agree with this. Just one minor criticism for the use of the phrase ‘kick start’. I’m hoping that such a young, modern striker comes fully equipped with electronic ignition. For the price it’s the least we should expect.⚡️⚡️⚡️
Despite that, I hope fans give him a chance to adapt to the new tactical style, and his new team mates. There is no doubt that he has goals in him, just a plea for patience, before he gets thrown to the lions. 🙏
 
Seems like a really sound lad. He’s clearly done his homework on the team and club and thought about what was his best career move right now.

And let’s be honest - he’s young so it’s a risk - but he looks a quality finisher with the natural instinct and physical attributes to succeed. Put a clinical finisher to this side we arguably have at least a couple of points on the board already!

I Like the types of goals he’s been scoring and the clips I’ve see of him doing his doggies and getting stuck in defensively last season for Swansea. Excited to see how he does
 
great to have Brewster, a finisher is last piece of puzzle. as we bar that mad 6mins v wolves we are playing well but cant score. take our chances we are 7th. Newcastle have had 3 shots on target but are 10th. Southampton would be bottom but for 1 man danny ings

at the very least he guaranteed to be super fit. after all he has just completed a medical every day for last 3 weeks

Some opposition fans saying it’s a gamble every signings pretty much a gamble even a proven player in same divisions not liable to do same for another club/manager, personally think it’s money well spent Liverpool’s only getting rid because their forward lines unreal hence the buy back I think Brewster’s done well at England u21 level and below and at Swansea and think he has the right pedigree for the premier league most out of all our strikers, good times the boards been great UTB

That's 2 key Liverpool players out with it now, hopefully not too exposed to the first teamers considering the transfer was looming, even if he was training still

Maybe Brewster can play at the weekend? He's just been changed to Sheff Utd on the Fantasy PL website and can be selected for Arsenal with no flag. It is run by the Premier League so you'd think they'd know...
 
Thankfully about time, I saw the regurgitated News Article on BBC Sport this morning getting my hopes up until I saw the quote from Wilder saying its still being progressed but now its happened will he be in team for Arsenal ????
 
Welcome Rhian! We're all chuffed to bits to sign him and I don't think he'll disappoint! He seems to take everything in his stride and seems a confident lad. The pace we've got with Brewster and Burke with the Moose to come back is exciting and should give us an added edge.

He was at the Lane on Thursday and did some training today.
Possibly the necessary paperwork was ready before the final announcement - keep your fingers crossed!
 
Having seen some of the goals he scored for Swansea I would say one of his strengths is quick reactions. Although we created a lot of chances against Leeds most shots were straight at the keeper. That’s where Brewster might be better. Admittedly, he hasn’t played full time in the Premier League so we will have to see if he can replicate his goal scoring record from the Championship.
