Now, it's clickbait nonsense, there are some very questionable rankings and "my club is bigger than your club" is playground stuff at best... but fuck it... we're a handful above them lot across the season so I'm posting it anyway.

player quality is interesting... cannot see for the life of me how we're level with Birmingham, only 5 places above Sunderland a L1 team, anyone know how they work that out?

It's bizzare. Stoke's player quality (13) vs. Norwich (49)

11th best for crowds is impressive given how poor we have been for most of the last 45 years.

Player quality.

24.

Finished 9th last off.

Okaaay.

Still, crowds and global fanbase should go down well in S2.

Seems to be the wrong metrics in my opinion, a big club most people see as number of fans that support that club (either in person at the ground or armchair supporters). Regardless of quality of the current team, trophies etc. Sunderland are a massive club (much bigger than us), despite the fact they are two leagues below us.

Player quality is an average over the last 20 years. I don't think it's supposed to reflect the last year, so don't get bees in your bonnets!

Historically they have.
No they haven't. Up until the 2nd World War they were quite evenly matched. After that, apart from Spurs' glory years of the early 50s and early 60s, Man U have had consistently higher crowds.

Since when have Spurs matched Man U for crowds???

If you go back c.60 years, there was an occasional season (ie. 1951 and 1961 when Spurs won the league) when Spurs averaged more than Man U. They were the exception, however, and in general, Spurs’ gates have not matched those of Man U.

Before 2018 (ie before the last 2 seasons when Spurs played home games at Wembley and then in their new stadium), you had to go back 50 years to 1967/68 to find the last time Spurs averaged 40,000.

in that same period, by contrast, Man U only had 4 seasons when their average gate dipped below 40,000 - 3 in the mid-80’s and one more in the early 90’s when Old Trafford’s capacity was limited by extensive building work.

For the rest of the 50 year period, Man U’s gates were always over 40k; typically upper 40k or lower 50k; and after ground developments, consistently over 70k.

How are West Brom a bigger club than Leeds?? We all hate Leeds but surely their national and global recognition, plus the brown nosing from the press this season should bump them up. West Brom aren't even the biggest Midlands club imo

There's no point in questioning this graphic in isolation. You need to read the full article to understand what all the metrics and numbers mean. Even then it's still very subjective, as everyone knows, and as the article points out right at the start. Still, it's an interesting read, even if at the end of the day it means nothing. As Houso points out at the start, the only reason for posting is because we're above them, and that's always nice regardless of relevance :)

How often have WBA been in the PL since Leeds last were? That makes a huge difference in terms of worldwide appeal and what makes a ‘big club’ in the present day.

Is there a link to it?

The trophies thing makes me laugh. 1 x League 2 title, 1 x League 1 title since the mid fifties and no cups since 1925. Should be a score of 100 unless and they might do have included how far the club got in competitions. In over 5 years only Bassett, Warnock and Nigel ever took that part seriously.

Are we bigger than 2 x European Cup winners Forest ?
We are bigger than Burnley...

In the pigs defence, the last 20 years have not been their best

I'm confused about Southampton's rating as well as Sunderland's global appeal!
