Who’s worse than us ?

The sight of Smith’s smug fat face is already starting to grate, this season.

it just shows how paths can be changed for the long-term by a fleeting but critical event.

Aston Villa should really have been relegated last season, but having got away with it, they have barely looked back. Splashed the cash on players; retained their star player; added a second England midfielder; and started with maximum points and 2 clean sheets for what, last season, was a dire defence.

However poor we thought they looked against us, I fancy they’ll be having the sort of season we had last season.

As much as Barkley would get into our team I don't think that's a game changing signing for Villa. Hugely overated player

Im not sure he has always looked very good when he has had a run of games for Chelsea and looked good for England

Hes one of those players where people/media have a lazy opinions without actually watching him

He might not be a world beater but he'll be very good at villa

Can't agree. He may be good at Villa but he's not had a good season for years. Chelsea fans think he's dreadful

Yeah but people have heard of him so that means Villa are going to win the league.

Classic SWFC signing:- A name people have heard of and on shed loads per week.

Obviously he got to the heady heights of Villa, by that initial loan spell at the Theatre of Rust.

Another Ingerland 'next big thing' who was going to transform our national team (Think Jack Wilshere, David Bentley etc).

Villa are buying everyone & their grandma, let the league settle down they'll be back down look Wolves thumped, Fulham thumped, WBA thumped & Chelsea thumped 1st half at WBA & even City thumped. The league is totally unpredictable I'd love to see McB scoring but not certain he will, I hate to say it but I feel (me) that we may have bought another Steve Finnieston or Ashley Ward or Alan Young with young Mousset.

I don't hold with all the "oh he's in a foreign country" he's had years to adapt here and Ballmouth he's injured far too often for a young kid he's 24 and should be fit as a flea. I keep reading he's an impact player, fuck me what he cost he should play every game and not be reduced to "cameo's".

That is not an attack on his skills before you all jump, it's his fitness that worries me very much.

He only cost £6-10m though, that's naff all in the Premier League.

Yes that I understand but to us it's a lot of money to go binning we are not nor ever will be one of the "rich clubs", we get by through beg steal or borrow as they say.

Villa will finish above us, I'm fairly certain of that. I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle, West Ham and maybe Brighton did, too.
They didn't create a chance from open play in a full game against ten men

And yet they're already six points ahead of us, with a game in hand.
The way they played suggests that we will get at least 6 more points than them over the rest of the season and outside of the game we played against them they've played Fulham who are favourites to go down while we've played Leeds who are expected to finish mid table and Wolves who came 7th the last 2 years

Wolves who just got walloped, at home, by a very ordinary West Ham side.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see anything to suggest we will finish above Aston Villa.

You seem quite reasonable but I am honestly baffled by the levels of negativity after 3 great seasons and only 3 bad games 2 of which were decent performances

To be honest it's as much that I think Villa have improved enormously from last season. Some people are convinced they are still a bad side, and fair enough, but I disagree.

We’ve lost our last 6 PL fixtures and even lost in the EFL Cup to Burnley. Not many positives to take from that, especially when we’re the only club to not have scored this season in the PL.

Barkley is the perfect footballer for people who don't understand football. He's very good at the individual aspects of the game and woeful at the team side.

We have lost 3 PL fixtures last years results are dead & gone, and as for losing to Burnley they are quite a decent well run team that will beat many teams at Turf Moor. By your moniker I feel you're a Hacky lad don't be so despondent be positive the rise we have enjoyed since 2016 when CW walked in has been as rare as "Rocking Horse Shit" to lots of our fans.

If you think we're bad now you're clearly very young cos believe me we have been ultra shit in decades gone by, don't bail on them after 3 games it's like getting knocked back by 3 birds & thinking "oh I'll never get married".

If that’s the case, never mention any previous results again, you’ve already contradicted yourself by bringing up past decades.

We’re all aware we’ve been in worse shape, but that’s just an excuse for losing. Currently this season, if that’s what we’re going on since every other seasons been and gone, there are no positives. Played 3. Lost 3. Scored 0. That’s relegation form, and there’s no shame in admitting it. You can dress it up however you want but at the moment we’re shite and with the fixtures coming up, I can’t see us getting any points on the table for a while.

No I said we were shite I never said which decades, you've just said it all played 3, let's judge table say round about Christmas I don't say we're brilliant and yes we need to start scoring but teams do not get relegated after 3 games. Were you about in 90/91 season by any chance not old results, it's a question trying to ascertain your age.

Fulham and West Brom can't defend and like Norwich last season will ultimately suffer because of it. West Ham and Newcastle are all over the place as regards consistency. Burnley and ourselves are alike in the fact that we need to squeeze every last drop of effort and organisation out of our limited talent in order to get results and succeed. We will still have that all season long when other sides have thrown the towel in. We're still doing the right things and in football if you do that, you'll eventually get the results. Having said that, if we dont beat Fulham, it's over.

Do you you think if we performed at the same level as we did against Leeds for the rest of the season we'd stay up?

newcastle
WBA
Fulham
West Ham
Palace

So we will finish around 15th.

I'm amazed nobody mentions momentum which can be a powerful factor in any sport. After 6 consecutive defeats i have no doubt the effort & energy levels will increase but defeats hurt the confidence & can be difficult to halt.
