I think we're going to miss out on this one. What with a replacement for JOC being needed now this will stretch out budget even further.

Hopefully we have a plan for Januarys budget that we may need to dip into now to get us the right players in and just not bring anyone in at the next window.

Time isn't on our side though.

Maybe give Hackford a senior squad number?! Could be like our Michael Owen!

January's budget and some of next summers budget will be used this week is my guess
 
first post here (longtime lurker!). just thought i would share the below snippet from an article on The Athletic by David Ornstein - think i read somewhere on here that he is quite credible when it comes to London clubs:Screenshot_20200928-094509_The Athletic.jpg
claiming that interest in Brewster is unlikely to go any further for Palace. looking at the other targets mentioned, seems like they are aiming a bit higher.

Does show that maybe we're the only show in town for Liverpool and Brewster hence why we're not willing to pay over the odds.
Liverpool have told the kid he's not got an immediate future with him, which I'm sure had rocked him a bit and they'll have a damaged relationship which I've no doubt will fix as he grows up a bit, however he's much more likely to want out at the moment.
I've said it for a while, I think this is done, we're just dancing around terms with the club, and they're the ones pumping out stories about other interest, which isn't making us flinch. We only lose this if another club shits the bed and offers daft money, but it isn't looking like it's likely and Liverpool have had 2-3 weeks now of being sat at the bar smiling at absolutely everyone but as yet no one's bought them a drink.

same article also references the obligatory Villa interest as well as our own. but, I've not seen that Villa interest firmed up anywhere else in the same way that our 'non-bid' story broke last week.

as you say, hopefully this indicates a lack of genuine suitors for him

It's only your first post, so I won't go too hard. But did you not realise this thread is mostly for unsubstantiated rumours from dodgy Twitter accounts? Failing that, information regurgitated by some knock-off footy rumour website will do. But posting info from a genuinely credible source, which actually moves the story on? Unbelievable. Try harder next time please ;)

Palace probably have the money to go for a more proven striker than Brewster especially if they offload Benteke for a fee.

Oddly enough I think he would do quite well in our team especially if he has someone alongside him.

I would rather give Hackford a chance than watch the same old dross up top.
 
Benteke is probably on £100-120k a week.... And I've never seen anyone with such low confidence on a football pitch, which has lasted about 3 years now.

He has the ability deep down, but seems psychologically broken as a player.
